Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Ian Meyer

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Meyer: Academics is very important to me and is my number one priority. I am looking to enter the field of aviation so a school that has an aviation program would be preferred. Distance away from home is not a real concern for me as I am willing to go wherever baseball takes me.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Meyer: My junior year at Monett High School went pretty well. I had a batting average of .418 and lead the team in RBIs with 33. I also led the team in ERA as a pitcher with a 1.673. In 37.2 innings I had 39 strikeouts and had a perfect save percentage. We set the school record for the most wins in a single season and won our conference. However, we fell to Carl Junction in the district championship game. I was first team shortstop for conference and district and received all-state honors as an infielder.

PBR:  What are you goals for your senior season?

Meyer: I have set high goals for myself going into my senior year. My goals include leading the team in ERA and RBIs again along with leading the team in batting AVG. My ultimate goal would to bring back a state championship to Monett.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Meyer: This past summer I played for The Bullpen Academy and I also played fall ball with them.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Meyer: I play football where I have been an all-conference QB the past 2 years and I also wrestle where I am a 3-time state qualifier and placed 5th at state competition last year.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Meyer: I maintain a 3.5 GPA and achieved a 25 on the ACT. I do plan on taking the ACT again in December and my goal is to get at least a 27.
