Q&A with Southeast Missouri State Commit RHP Chase Hagerty (Cape Central, 2015)

Chase Hagerty (Cape Central, RHP) is a 6-foot-4 200-pound RHP, and attended the Class of 2015 Prospect Games on Aug. 17. He has committed to Southeast Missouri State. Hagerty was good in his outing on 8.17, working his fastball at 83-88 MPH with run and sink. His curveball was at 72-73 MPH with 12/6 tilt and late/sharp break. Chase also displayed a splitter that was at 78 MPH with near fastball arm speed and good sink. Hagerty finished the spring with a 1.3 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 53 innings of work for Cape Central.

Below is a look into Hagerty's recruiting process. 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Hagerty: The schools that have showed interest are Southeast Missouri State University, Illinois State, University of Missouri, Western Illinois, Missouri State, Murray State, Creighton, and Eastern Michigan.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Hagerty: I have taken visits to Illinois State, Murray State, and Southeast Missouri State University

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Hagerty: I found a great fit in my own home town and have verbally committed to Southeast Missouri State University on a baseball scholarship.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Hagerty: I had a 1.3 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP. I had 71 Strikeouts in 54 innings.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season at Cape Central?

Hagerty: I would like to be successful on the mound and at the plate.  I want to continue being a leader on the team.  I want to be competitive every game and have fun.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Hagerty: Missouri Bulls summer league.  I have played with Missouri Dirtbags fall ball in the previous year. 

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Hagerty: Basketball (4 years), football (2 years), and swimming (1 year).

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Hagerty: I received a 23 on the ACT (scheduled to retake the test later this year to hopefully improve); 3.5 GPA
