Recruiting News Around Missouri

In updated recruiting news around Missouri:
RHP/MIF Cort Lesmeister from Ray-Pec has committed to Pittsburgh State University. A participant in the Class of 2013 Midwest Future Games, Lesmeister burst onto the scene with the ability to throw three pitches for strikes and saw his velocity rise to the mid-80’s last spring and summer. He also evolved into a consistent hitter and was a major part of Ray-Pec’s successful 2012 season.

Curtis Smith, a catcher from Parkway West HS has committed to Maryville University. At the Top Prospect Showcase in June, Smith impressed with his accurate 2.01-2.02 pop times. He showed the leadership a catcher should have with his work ethic throughout the event, to compliment his skills.

A pair of Oakville HS teammates, John Udina and Tommy Bruenig, have both committed to Parkland College. Udina showed a strong arm in the outfield at the St. Louis Preseason showcase, with a top throw of 83 mph. He also impressed, running a 4.19 home to first as well as quick bat speed.  Bruenig was among the Suburban South Conference leaders in doubles (six) and RBIs (10) last season. He has a long, projectable 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame with room to fill out as a first baseman.
