Super 60 Spotlight: Carter Jensen

On Sunday, Feb. 7, Prep Baseball Report will host the 19th edition of its prestigious, flagship event: the Super 60 Pro Showcase. Since the event’s inception in 2003, more than 300 players have been selected in the MLB Draft, including 22 first-round picks and 25 second-rounders.

We started our our march toward the Super 60 earlier this week, by highlighting the prospects set to join us, shining a light on their impressive player profiles that they've groomed through their high school years and beyond.


Scouting Report

9/28/19

Jensen is a strong and athletic 6-foot-1, 215-pound, left-handed hitting catching prospect in Missouri’s 2021 class. Committed to Louisiana State University. At the event, he ran a 7.28 60 and a 4.77 home-to-first. At plate, Jensen posted an event best exit velocity of 99 mph, reverse toe tap into load, loose and quick hands, flat bat path, aggressive and repeatable swing with some lift, ball jumps off barrel, showed plus pop to all fields during batting practice. Behind the plate, Jensen has soft hands, clean and quick arm action, moves well side-to-side, clean arm action with positional velo of 77 mph, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Jensen is a strong and physical 6-foot-1, 215-pound, left-handed hitting catcher and corner infielder in Missouri’s 2021 class. At the event, he ran a home-to-first time of 5.01 seconds and posted an exit velocity of 94 mph. At the plate, shows quick bat speed, efficient weight shift into load position, aggressive with lower half, level bat path, remains balanced during swing, produced hard pull contact during round with pop. Defensively, soft hands, quick lateral movements, gains ground to 2B on throws, clean transfers, short and quick arm action, pop times between 1.91 – 2.00 seconds, strong arm with carry to throws, positional velocity of 78 mph, mostly accurate throws.

Jensen is a well built 6-foot 185-pound left-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and a 5.01 home to first.  He has a 93 mph exit velocity. At the plate, advanced hitter, balanced swing, smooth load with weight shift and in hands, controlled leg kick, aggressive bat speed, loose hand with feel for the barrel, strong with power to pull side, gap to gap approach with mostly hard pull side contact. Behind the plate, staggered set up in base, quick transfer, over the top arm slot, 2.00-2.09-second pop times, 76 mph positional velocity, feet create momentum to throw, throws have carry and are somewhat accurate.
