LHP Ben Lovell pitched No. 19 Westminster to an easy 10-0 over host Burroughs, Westminster's first ever win at Burroughs, and avenging their sole loss of last season.

Lovell went five strong innings, striking out six batters and allowing four hits. Lovell was able to pitch out of a jam in the first inning with the bases loaded and one out, and another jam in the second inning with runners on second and third, holding the Burroughs offense scoreless.

"It's hard trying to figure out how they didn't score, but they didn't and thats the key thing," said head coach Rich VanGilst on the performance of Lovell, and the defense behind him.

Westminster would score a run in the top of the first inning. OF Tate Matheny started the game off with a walk and moved to second on a ground out by SS Shane Benes. 3B Luke Turner would follow with a single, driving in Matheny.

The Westminster bats came alive in the top of the fifth inning, when four runs would cross the plate. 2B Connor Larson reached base on a one out double and would come around to score on a singe down the left fied line off the bat of Benes.  Turner followed with a walk, and after a pitching change, C Brett Bond smashed a triple to centerfield, driving in two. Pinch runner Bryce Bell scored on a 1B Connor Eineston single, extening the Westminster lead to 6-0.

"I was trying to wait, see the ball and hit the ball. He left a curveball up a bit, and I put a good swing on it," said Bond on his two RBI triple the blew the game open.

Westminster would put Burroughs away in the top of the sixth, scoring four more runs. Matheny led the inning off with a single, and advanced to third on an error by the Burroughs right fielder. The next batter, Connor Larson, would reach base on a fielders choice ground out, scoring Matheny. Turner would reach base for the fourth time, this time with a single, moving Larson to third. Brett Bond would follow with a sacrifice fly scoring Larson, Bond's third RBI of the game. The big blow would come off the bat of Einerston, who delivered a two run homerun to right center field, putting Westminster up 10-0.

"Our goal was to try to get to their bullpen, when facing a tough pitcher (Burroughs LHP Alex Jasiek) you try to get good at bats and get the pitch count up. He is a tough pitcher and can beat anyone on a given day, and we were fortuante to get him out," said Van Gilst on how his offense jumped on Burroughs starter Alex Jasiek.
