Williams is a versatile, athletically built 5-foot-10, 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher. A sub-7 runner with a solid arm, Williams is one of the top uncommitted outfield prospects in Missouri’s 2014 class.

But as a junior on a talented Lafayette club, Williams showed his versatility by playing several positions.

“I played all positions in the outfield as well as spending some time at third and on the mound,” he said. “I started the season hitting 5th or 6th but then moved to the 3-hole for the rest of the season.

“I was a team captain and really enjoyed the season.  Our team got off to a slow start as we were a young team by Lafayette standards. But, things picked up and we were playing much better by the end of the season.”

Williams finished the season batting .366 with a .471 on-base percentage. He tallied six doubles, two triples, one homer and 15 runs for the Lancers. He also swiped seven bases in seven attempts. His speed is in fact one of his best attributes.

At a Prep Baseball Report Showcase last February, he ran a 6.96 60. Williams said he’s chiseled down his time since then.

“During the off season I work with trainers at Elite and try to keep getting stronger and faster,” he said. “I was able to get my 60 time to 6.79 and 6.8 at most recent camps. I was able to see the results from that work last year and I hope to see it more this year on the field.”

From the outfield, Williams was clocked at 84 mph from the outfield last February while showing a loose, balanced left-handed swing at the plate. On the mound, his fastball sat 81-82 mph with a 65-67 mph curveball and 71-74 mph changeup.

Williams scored a 27 on the ACT and holds a 3.4 GPA.

“I will study business in college with the hopes of becoming a financial advisor in the future,” Williams said. “A good school with a good business program will work well for me.  I am not too concerned about location.  I am willing to travel to go to school where it is a good fit for me academically and with baseball.”
