PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Humbert: I knew the recruiting process was going to be a long and thoughtful process. To me this is one of the biggest decisions anyone can ever make to determine their next chapter. When looking for a college the relationship I had and was able to create was most important to me. Mizzou felt like a big family and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. 

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Humbert: As the process went on I found myself feeling most comfortable staying closer to home to represent the state of Missouri. 

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Humbert: I was being recruited a little bit before the new NCAA rules were put into place last spring 2023. But after August 1, the exposure I had at the PBR Future Games changed everything for me. I had many schools all over the country interested in my future of baseball.  

PBR: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Humbert: Mizzou did an amazing job making me feel like I have a special role in the future of their program. All coaches did an amazing job creating a relationship with me not just focused on baseball. That stood out to me and was something I couldn’t pass up. And just the atmosphere of the school gave me goosebumps and put a huge smile on my face seeing the development and past results of Mizzou’s baseball program. 

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Humbert: Missouri State and Kentucky.

PBR: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Humbert: Kenton Deverman (Fort Zumwalt West, 2023; Evansville signee) was a pitcher I knew would always be a dog fight against. His ability to pitch backwards and keep you on your toes was very impressive against great hitters. 

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Humbert: After I started doing serious consistent programmed lifting and hitting I knew the growth was only going to become larger to help me compete at the next level. 

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Humbert: No talent, power, or speed is ever just something a player has and was gifted. The hard work when know one is watching is what will help you rise above the rest to be the best athlete possible. 

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Humbert: The PBR Future Games. 

PBR: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Humbert: I know our pitching will be a very good strength for us as we have many boys ready to compete this season. Overall we will be just as good or even better as last year. This season will be a special one for Francis Howell.
