Competitive Edge Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Sunday, October 13th, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff traveled to Platte County High School in Platte City, MO to host the annual Competitive Edge Scout Day. This event, featured 35+ players from the Competitive Edge program in attendence.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 7 names that popped to our staff from Sunday's trip to Platte City.

   

QUICK HITS

+  Sunday’s look gave us another strong performance from OF Xander Paul (Staley, 2026). A 5-foot-11, 156-pound all around athlete, Paul has plenty of room to add size and strength to his frame. The junior saw jumps in his metrics at the plate since our last look in June, squaring his best ball up at 91.1 mph and posting an event-leading 85.9 mph average per batted ball; spraying line drives to all fields throughout his round. Defensively, Paul showed off his arm strength from the outfield, posting a 85 mph mark on his firmest throw with the ability to cover ground with ease thanks to an event-best 6.79 60 time.

  

+ OF Sam Kendrick (Park Hill, 2026) caught the eye of our staff in his Prep Baseball debut on Sunday. Long and lean at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, Kendrick offers plenty of projectability as he continues to polish his game. The junior used his long levers at the plate to find the barrel with consistency, reaching 89.7 mph on his best swing. Those long levers played in the field as well, reaching 82 mph from the outfield paired with a 6.85 60 time. 

  

+ INF/OF Aidan Dunagan (Northland Christian, 2026) had a strong showing on both sides of the ball in this look. Dunagan put together arguably one of the most consistent and loudest rounds of BP on the day, driving the ball consistently to the left center gap with a smooth right-handed swing. Still developing power, which should come as he adds strength to his frame, Dunagan produced a peak exit velocity of 91 mph in this look. Additionally, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound athlete was up to 81 mph from the outfield, while showing reliable actions on the infield and running a 6.99 second 60 to pair.

  

+ A physical two-way to keep an eye on from this event was OF/RHP Brooks Hall (Platte County, 2026). The 6-foot-5, 205-pound junior swings a long-levered right-handed barrel that plays through the middle of the field, reaching a peak exit velocity of 90.8 mph. His arm played true from the outfield, producing a max velocity of 87 mph. Hall’s arm strength carried over to the mound where he showcased a three pitch mix with a fastball at 82-84 mph (T85.1 mph), a curveball at 70-72 mph, and a changeup at 74-76 mph. Look for more to come as Hall continues to add polish to his skill set.

  

+ Another standout two-way performance came from 1B/RHP Carson Bjorn (Park Hill South, 2026). As physical as they come at 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, Bjorn used a strong, quick inside-out swing with advanced bat speed (T79.4 mph) to drive the ball to the pullside gap in his BP round, producing a max exit velocity of 91.9 mph. On the mound, Bjorn creates a tough at bat for hitters, pitching in the low-to-mid 80’s with his fastball from a unique,near sidearm slot, while commanding a slider/changeup mix for strikes. 

  

+ INF/OF Frankie Giamalva (Leavenworth, KS, 2026) is an upside athlete to keep an eye on next spring and summer. There is plenty of room to add strength and size on his projectable, lean frame at 6-foot-0, 175-pounds. Giamalva is polished and balanced from the right side, repeating a rhythmic right-handed swing with consistency, squaring his best ball up at 94.2 mph. Also QB1 for the Pioneers in the fall, Giamalva is packed with athleticism, displaying clean, fluid actions both on the infield and in the outfield.

  

+  Packed with strength in a compact 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame, C/INF Caden Puderbaugh (Basehor-Linwood, KS, 2026) was another standout from the Sunflower State in Sunday’s look. Puderbaugh swings a strong right-handed barrel that works back through the middle of the field with a peak exit velocity of 90.8 mph on the day. Defensively, the junior showed reliable hands and an accurate arm from behind the plate, posting 2.02-2.17 pop times while also reaching 82 mph on his firmest bullet across the infield.
