Fall Kickoff Showcase Analysis: Class of 2019 (Part Two)

The Fall Kickoff Showcase on August 16th officially marked the beginning of the fall schedule of PBR events in Pennsylvania. Today we conclude a series of articles analyzing those prospects in attendance by taking a look at the second half of prospects in attendance in the Class of 2019.

TOP PROSPECTs

Zach BurtonZach Burton, 3B, Downingtown East HS (PA)
5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-hang stride. Displayed a strong lower half and the ability to drive the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Displayed active feet and a soft glove hand during defensive evaluations. Played through the baseball routinely with accurate 78 mph arm strength across the diamond. Showed good body control on the slow roller play. Strong, athletic frame with ability to defend early at the next level.

Sam SpadeaSam Spadea, 1B/RHP, Pennsbury HS (PA)
6-foot-2, 225-pound right-handed hitter starts from a wide stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiate his swing. Swing has some length with a high hands load and some barrel wrap, but a solid hip turn leads to a bat exit velocity of 95 mph. Showed solid footwork and a soft glove around the bag at first base with 82 mph arm strength across the diamond. Righty sat 80-83 on the mound from a 3/4 arm slot while also commanding a curveball with 11/5 rotation at 67-70 and a changeup at 70-73 with near fastball arm speed. Worked two scoreless innings with two strikeouts in game action.

Kullen Crosby, 3B, Coudersport HS (PA)
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Demonstrated a solid feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph and went 1-for-6 in game action. Demonstrated confidence in his glove hand defensively with the ability to make throws from multiple arm angle while registering 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash.

Justin Fogel, C, Pennsbury HS (PA)
6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-hang stride. Displayed a loose hands swing with a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.69 60-yard dash and showcased pop times of 2.18-2.23 on throws of 75 mph from the crouch. Showcased a quiet receiving hand and quick feet with a clean transition on throws to second base.

Matt Headley, OF, Bonner-Prendergast HS (PA)
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a short, leg-hang stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a direct swing path with a line drive approach and registered an 85 mph bat exit velocity. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash and showcased athletic actions defensively with 85 mph arm strength from the outfield. 

Ryan Miller, C, Allentwon HS (NJ)
6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a direct swing path with a feel for the barrel. Registered an 87 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. Impressed with receiving skills during game action while registering pop times of 2.07-2.15 on throws of 73 mph from the crouch during defensive evaluations.

C.J. Saylor, C, Hempfield HS (PA)
5-foot-9, 190-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a short, leg-hang stride. Displayed a strong lower half and a feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash and displayed a quiet receiving hand a soft wall for blocking during bullpen sessions. Showcased pop times of 2.20-2.27 on throws of 73 mph out of the crouch.
