Miknis Impresses at Mid-Atlantic MLB Scout Game

The Mid-Atlantic MLB Scout Game, an event organized by long time scout Keeno Beezer, showcased nearly 30 prospects Wednesday evening at Medlar Park, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions.

A pair of right-handed pitchers, North Carolina commit Thomas Schultz (Mount Carmel Area, 90 mph) and Michigan commit Cameron Weston (Canon-McMillan, 91 mph) showed why they are among the top ranked prospects in Pennsylvania's 2019 class. North Carolina commit Shawn Rapp (Delbarton, NJ) also impressed with an easy, loose left-handed delivery and an above average curveball with two-plane action at 75-76. But it was catcher Justin Miknis (DuBois Central Catholic), a Kent State commit, who put together the most complete evening for the sizable group of pro scouts in attendance.

Most prospects in attendance are preparing for a trip to Jupiter, Florida for the WWBA Fall Championships this month. Upon their return many will also be showcasing their talents at the inaugural PBR Mid-Atlantic ProCase

Scouting Report

10.3.18 - On a night that showcased nearly 30 prospects in front of over 20 pro scouts Miknis stood out. The 6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitter took arguably the top round of batting practice on the evening. Starting from a narrow, slightly open stance, Miknis showcased a short swing path while continually staying inside the baseball driving the baseball all over the park. He carried that swing into game action lining a single back through the box for the game's first run. Behind the plate, Miknis showcased athleticism and a quick transfer with 80 mph arm strength and pop times of 1.96-2.04.
