Southern Idaho Open | Quick Hits

The Southern Idaho Open is in the books and now we move into the post event coverage, breaking down and highlighting the standouts from the event with Quick Hits, Stat Leaderboards, Blast Motion Leaderboards and Pitching Leaderboards. The immediate takeaway from this past weekends event was impressive overall offensive performance that saw a number of balls leave the yard with multiple 100 mph Exit Velocities and mature, line drive filled rounds coming from players in each high school class.

At the Southern Idaho Open, we retrieved a significant amount of data on each player including: 60 Times measured by Swift Syncro, Batting Practice measured by TrackMan, Catch Pop Time and Velocity, Outfield Evaluation and Velocity, Infield Evaluation and Velocity and Pitcher Bullpens analyzed and assessed by TrackMan. We pride ourselves on utilizing the latest technology in the game to provide the most accurate data for both the player and those recruiting/evaluating the player.

Bronson Brookins | 2023 | C | Burley

The Team Idaho standout at the 2022 West Coast Games continued to impress at the Southern Idaho Open. His bat has proven to be the best part of his game with consistent barrels and flashes of power potential, especially to the pull side, but do not sleep on his ability behind the plate with event bests in both Catcher Velocity (79 mph) and Catcher Pop Time (1.93). Brookins is a small school product with a ton of upside with his lean, developing frame that projects to improve each part of his game with added strength and size. Keep this Uncommitted backstop on your radar as a heart of the order bat with present tools behind the plate.

Brody Jacksha | 2023 | OF/IF | Belgrade (MT)

Jacksha made the trip to Twin Falls all the way from Montana and he made the most of the Southern Idaho Open. His present, proportionate build at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds is used very well at the plate with a balanced, squared set up that works into his efficient swing that showed his consistent ability to find loud barrels throughout his round with some present power to the big part of the yard. Defensively, his athleticism shines through where he showed his confident actions in both the outfield and around the bag at first base. The Belgrade product made an immediate impression on the PBR Staff and is a player to know in Montana as he enters his senior campaign.

Cooper Thompson | 2025 | IF/RHP | Twin Falls

One of Idaho's three representatives at the 2022 Future Games, Thompson got home the premier Uncommitted event of the summer and went to work. He showed off his new set up and approach at the plate with a squared, wider base that allowed him to be more consistent and repeatable helping his achieve one of the top Sweet Spot Percentages of the Southern Idaho Open at 77%. His 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame has obvious present strength and he is just now scratching the surface of what is to come with the power potential at the plate.

Tav Hiaring | 2027 | C/IF | Mountain View

The event's lone 2027 put together one of the top overall performances at the Southern Idaho Open. Though the metrics don't jump off the page (yet) compared to the upperclassmen in attendance, the advanced actions on both sides of the ball make him a very intriguing prospect to follow for the next few years. His projected physical development will amplify each part of his game and the confidence is only expected to trend with that as he could be an early impact player for the Mountain View Mavericks next Spring.

Diego Baker | 2025 | RHP/IF | Timberline

It's hard to miss the 6-foot-6 right hander and the ability on the mound is something to keep tabs on as well. The intriguing looseness in the arm from a high 3/4 to 3/4 slot that helps him create downhill action on his three pitch mix. As he continues to fill out his long, lean frame, his fastball velocity is expected to mirror that physical progress as he already possesses a clean, efficient delivery. The 2025 was a standout the Boise Open ID earlier this Summer and did so again at the Southern Idaho Open, making him a high follow over the next few months to see how much his progresses before his sophomore campaign at Timberline.
