Commitment Corner: 2018 C Angelo D'Acunto (Poly Prep)
November 22, 2017
One of our top articles in the past year 'Commitment Corner' is back with brand new players from all over the Empire State. We have taken the time to sit down and ask these committed prospects a few questions, helping readers have a chance to learn more about each prospects journey. Let's get started.
PBR: Tell us all about your recruitment process, when it started, and why you decided to commit to ? (enter your school into this question)
D'Acunto: Recruitment process started my sophomore summer at Poly Prep. After sophomore season and seeing what my Poly teammates were doing, I needed to make a change. I was playing with local travel program with all my friends from Little league and very comfortable in my situation ( socially & baseball wise). My Dad and I decided we needed to play for a more prominent or nationally ranked program. We left our local team after 5 years and decided to play with Tri-State Arsenal Prime.
PBR: Looking at your skill-set on the baseball field, what would you say your biggest strength at the next-level will be?
D'Acunto: The position I play ( catcher) requires many components to strive at the next level. I believe I’m a very good receiver, blocks very well and plus plus arm. On the offensive side : middle of lineup guy with power, gap to gap.
PBR: What’s your No. 1 priority going into the Winter in terms of getting prepared for next spring?
D'Acunto: After a good junior year and being named Co- Mvp at Poly Prep. Just looking to build upon that becoming a better leader. Earn the respect of my teammates and Coaches. I’d like to finish my High School career on a high note and help get my team to another state championship.
PBR: Who is your biggest influence when it comes to playing the game of baseball?
D'Acunto: First and foremost my parents!! They have supported me all the way. Always pushing me and believing in me. They gave up tremendous amount of their time and monies to get me where I’m at today. I’ve also had some great coaches as well . Coach George Quinn at RCBC. He taught me the game of baseball and how the game should be played. Coach Roventini at Poly Prep. A players coach , mentoring me through high school/ college process and a friend for life. Coach Mazzolla at Tri State Arsenal . Enabling me to part of his team, having trust in me and working with college coaches.
D'Acunto: I participated in NYS Games this past summer. I’ve been to few events run by other organizations. By far PBR was the best run event of all of them. Its was extremely organized , ran very well and bunch of college guys there as well. On a personal note , I arrived late to the event and was going to miss a few measurables . I contacted Dan Cevette and told me not to worry. Once I arrived, he was easy to reach and very accommodating. And yes I was able to complete the measurables that i missed, Dan actually did it for me himself!! In closing I highly recommend PBR Events!!
