High School Crosscheck: April 11-16

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

C Malcolm Moore (McClatchy HS, CA) stormed into the 2022 season with two home runs and seven RBIs in his first game and he’s barely slowed since. Not even two weeks off due to a teachers strike in the school district affected him. He has gone hitless just twice in 15 games and is hitting .622/.700/1.600 with 11 home runs, seven doubles, two triples and 34 RBIs. Last week, in the San Diego Lions tournament, he went 7-for-13 with three home runs, a double and nine RBIs in four games.

Strongly built at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, the Stanford recruit has a good approach at the plate, exercising patience and attacking pitches he can drive when he gets them. He has above average bat speed and strength at impact that produces plus power to his pull side. His loose hands allow him to control the barrel and drive the ball to all fields. He’s a solid receiver behind the plate and is rarely tested on the basepaths thanks to his strong arm.
