Scouting Report

Pick: Round 1, 41st Overall (Indians)

May 2018
Athletic, elastic athlete with explosive actions. The RHP dialed it up to 94-95 MPH in the first inning before settling in at 92-94 MPH. At times flashed a sharp, 2-plane slider in the 81-83 MPH range but had trouble repeating in game. Mixed several change ups at 86-87 with some sink; almost a “power change” that acts more like a heavy FB. Mechanically can get upright with his finish along with some cross fire from a closed off stride. Command wavered but has been extremely efficient to date.

Scouting Report

Pick: Round 6, 184th Overall (Twins)

Procase (June 25-27, 2017)
Physical 5-foot-11 192 pound frame, running a  6.86 60. Offensively- Left handed hitter sets up even with hands in lower, relaxed position. Some closing off during his stride but was able to whip hands through the zone. Carried over an impressive 101 MPH exit velocity (Wood Bat) to his BP, showing off some pull side gap power. Controlled approach, balanced through the zone. Will be able to drive opposite field gaps as well.   Defensively- Never flashy but always steady, projects more at 3B or potentially in the OF with his foot speed. Hands can get underneath at times. Accurate with some carry, infield velocity was 82 MPH across the diamond with minimal effort. Intriguing to where he fits positionally at the next level, his high athleticism should make for an easy adjustment.

Pick: Round 10, 299th Overall (Rangers)

May 2018
Long and lean RHP with an easy effort, low ¾ arm slot. Sat 87-89 MPH for the majority of the game, touching a couple 90 MPH and one 91 MPH FB early on. Overthrowing slider early in game but after a lengthy injury delay he settled in with a late breaking, tilting slider at 78-79 MPH. Frame and arm action easily can support additional velocity. Showed some bat speed at the plate; collected a SAC fly and and single.

Fall 2017
The most impressive physical frame at the event at 6-foot-2 190 pounds. Showed a strong arm from both the OF and SS along with a fundamental approach to the ball in both spots. Short, line drive stroke during BP. Seems to be an extra gear in there that hasn't been unlocked yet.

Lean/wiry frame. Sat 89-91, touching 92 MPH against Harford JC in the NJCAA D1 Eastern District. Consistent with breaking ball; able to spot and expand. Tends to get out of rhythm and pull of glove side but quickly makes in game adjustments. Highly projectable body type with a easy arm; plenty of room for physical and velocity gains. Intense competitor.

Scouting Report

Pick: Round 24; 715th Overall (Blue Jays) - San Jacinto JC/St. John's Commit

NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
Pascoe checks in at an athletic 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. Pitching- An early season look showed that Pascoe had a good feel for his secondary pitches while sitting with his FB at 85-86. Delivery wise; worked soley out of the stretch featuring a controlled mid chest leg drive. Arm action is long and works through a 3/4 slot. Exhibits good body control, landing slightly open with his front side. Arm accelerates quickly through his release. Gets up and over front side with some give on plant leg. Finishes square to the plate with an occasional recoil. Change up showed some arm side fade with late spike at 78-79 MPH. Although velocity wise it appears to be too hard, there is enough late deceleration that puts it into a better range. Curveball sat 71-73 MPH with some 1-to-7 type shape. Featured late bit and was able to throw for a strike with ease. Above average early season command, looking forward to see him in game action come spring.

He uses side to side rotation in his shoulders and a long arm action from a mid ¾ slot. He uses great extension on release and finishes complete out over his front knee. His fastball sat 84-86 MPH with some late action on the arm side. He showed a 66 mph changeup with some early deception and a 61-62 mph curveball with 1/8 gradual shape.
