Scouting Report

November 6, 2016

Peltier, 2018 right-handed hitting outfielder currently ranked as the 18th ranked OF for the 208 class, stands at 5-foot-9 and weighs 150 pounds, ran a 6.95 60. Offensively- Hits from a square lower half with some weight shifted to the backside with the hands held above the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is nearly perpendicular to the ground. Gets into the launch phase of the swing with a heavy shift of weight to the back side with a toe tap lead foot movement while the hands are loaded straight back creating a bit of an arm bar action with the lead arm. During batting practice displayed a quality approach while driving the ball well from the pull side to opposite field gap. Swing was compact and efficient keeping the barrel of the bat in the hitting zone for an extended period of time creating plus back spin thru extension. Registered an exit velocity of 86 MPH, matching a personal best. Defensively- Athletic movements to the ball, fielding the ball outside the throwing side foot. Transfers the ball from the center of the chest creating the traditional longer arm action from the outfield position with a quality crow hop which creates very good momentum to the target. Recorded a personal best 80 MPH, arm velocity but still has more in the tank if the back leg could stay down a bit longer creating even more leg drive and better extension on throws.

NY Games (June 27-29, 2016)

Peltier checks in at 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds (up 1" and 20 pounds from Feb. 2016). Runs a 7.00 60. Offensively- upright stance, slightly open, hands at shoulder height. Bat points up for most of load and has a toe tap stride that covers good ground. Flat bat path, finishes low with 2 hands and gets backside through well. As strength continues to improve, so will the 86 MPH (up 1 MPH from Feb. 2016) exit velocity. Defensively- Approaches ball carefully and uses good momentum to throw 77 MPH (up 1 MPH from Feb. 2016) from the OF. Gets feet in good position to make throw to all bases.

Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)

Stands 5-foot-7, 135-pounds with a thin athletic frame that should take some more weight as he develops. The 2018 showed good speed with a 7.0 60-yard dash and got down the line in 4.18.  Offensively- Sets up with an open base and uses a quick toe tap stride to get back in line.  Bat starts about ear level and levels out as he attacks the ball.  Uses his lower half well and popped an 85-mph exit velocity. Defensively- Received everything out in front and worked through the ball nicely. Arm strength checked in at 76 MPH.  Peltier is a young outfielder who shows the ability to run, with some pop in the bat.  Definitely an attractive outfield prospect in the 2018 class.
