When Prep Baseball Report’s 2016 New York State Games kicked off on Monday, June 27, Vincenzo Alteri (2017, Immaculate Heart Central) wasn’t there.

Don’t worry, Alteri had a good excuse. Alteri was accepting the Times All-North MVP award out of the Frontier League (Watertown, N.Y.) after batting .512 in 99 plate appearances and leading the Cavaliers (Class C) to the state finals.

“(The showcase) went by so quick,” Alteri said. “I had to miss Day One. Bad timing (with the the award banquet). But the showcase was very well run. A great experience competing with the best in New York.”

Alteri is 6-foot-0, 190 pounds, and racks the ball from the left side of the plate. He complied 44 hits, 40 runs and 31 RBIs batting second in the potent IHC lineup. The son of longtime Jefferson Community College baseball coach Paul Alteri, Vincenzo has batted north of .400 in each of his four varsity seasons.
