Scouting Report   

Dessena is a 6-foot, 160 pound RHP. Pitching- Starts with a shoulder width stance shading to the left side of the rubber. He shifts to the middle with his side step, bringing himself to a nice balanced power position with his leg kick. An average length stride leads into an over the top delivery while finishing falling off to the 1st base side. Gets chest out over knee well.  FB hovers around  80 MPH  with  ability to pin point. Threw a nice mix of curveballs (66-68 MPH) with 1-to-7 action. Changeup showed some sink at 69-71 MPH; produced off-balance swings.

What to Expect

"Dessena has shown a climb in velocity over his last couple of events. He repeats his delivery; shows the ability to work both sides of the plate and down. FB features some arm side run and breaking ball produces weak contact. Ability to throw three pitches for strikes and stay away from the heart of the plate will be his strong suit. Looking forward to having him with us on the 30th."
