Our "Player Spotlights" will be reserved for any prospect across New York who's abilities on the field have made some noteworthy recent buzz. Possibly a recent event where a Top Performer Spotlight article is just not enough, or maybe a recent commitment to a major program. Whatever it is, I'll (Dan Cevette) be going in-depth on the player spotlighted below with personal insight and honest feedback. Let's get started.

Andres Auffant RHP / OF / Center Moriches, NY / 2019Rankings StateRank: 123 / POS: 37
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Very lean projectable frame, wiry with free arm-action in the back with some natural arm-side run to his fastball. Have seen him in the low-80's range and with added strength expect to see that increase. Excited to see him at the NYS Games this June 25-27. SCOUTING REPORT: Slight frame at 5-foot-10 145 pounds. Auffant ran a 7.19 60. Offensively- Even setup with a short stride and quiet timing. Some lengthwith the ball with limited lower half causing opposite field contact. Overall balance was good. Exit velocity was 77 MPH. Pitching- Above average command with late arm-side run to his FB at 80-84 MPH. Arm action is loose working through a high 3/4 slot. Produced plenty of weak contact. CB had late 11-to-5 action at 68-70 MPH and showed a chance at 71-72 MPH that could use more work. |
