Player Spotlight: 2019 SS Michael DeStefano (Liverpool HS)

Currently ranked the No. 18 best SS in the 2019 class in NY, DeStefano has the projected ceiling to rise heavily come spring/summer. No stranger to the PBR system, Destefano really jumped onto the radar at the NYS Games where he earned his invitation to the Future Games in Westfield, Indiana. At the plate the slender build lefty works with a repeatable swing path, mostly level barrel path through contact, at times the bat head drops but as he gets more physical so will the bat. Currently the bat-speed is average, but that too will soar once DeStefano starts putting on size and strength based on the looseness and low effort. With the glove there's a lot to like. Very active lower half that never stops moving, clean/soft hands with a quick release from multi arm-slots. When the dust settled from the Future Games the CNY middle infield product had made his college decision to attend Canisius. It's a good fit in my opinion. Canisius is known for their high-end northeast baseball program, the facilities are solid, and the coaching staff is young and willing to develop the players. We expect a big spring/summer campaign for DeStefano as he starts climbing the 2019 rankings.
