Player Spotlight: 2020 RHP/3B Max Luke (Croton Harmon HS)

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Luke's big and strong, physical with developing tools that continue to improve. Last summer he was 79-81, but we just watched him sitting 83-84 touching 86 with feel for an above average breaking ball. Offensively the bat plays right now, it's fluid, repeatable and shows a rare combination of strength and bat-speed. We see him again this summer with the states best players June 25-27 (NYS Games) and don't be surprised if he's shifting into another gear by then.

SCOUTING REPORT: Standing 6-foot-2, 200-pounds with a strong thicker build. On the mound Luke continues to impress giving off an impression to our staff there's plenty more to come. On the mound he works from a quick tempo, high knee lift, hands high. As he drives forward off a strong back side his shoulders show some uphill tilt, long stride with above average range of motion in his hips. Throws the ball from a high 3/4 slot, fastball sits 83-84 with a max of 86 mph, down in zone consistently. Curveball has feel with 11/5 shape, 63-65 velocity range. FB hand-speed CH sitting 69-72. At the plate he uses an extremely fluid repeatable barrel bath, strong and short to the ball, power to the pull-side projection, 90 mph exit velocity.
