Q and A with standout Tyler Childrose P/1b (Averill Park, NY)

Dan Cevette
New York Scouting Director

Name: Tyler Childrose
High School: Averill Park
College Commitment: Siena
Position: P/1B

PBR New York sat down with Tyler Childrose for a little question and answer session.

PBR: How did you prepare for the 2014 season?

Childrose: Over the winter I worked out with my summer team South Troy Dodgers at All Star Academy. We threw a bunch of bullpens and worked on pitching mechanics. I also trained hard over the winter trying to get bigger and stronger and add a couple MPH on my fastball.

PBR: What was your biggest challenge this year on the field?

Childrose: Our Biggest challenge this year was trying to overcome the 2 previous 5-15 seasons and living up to the pressure everyone puts on a kid going D1 like myself.

PBR: You are headed to Siena next fall, tell us why you picked them?

Childrose: I really liked the program and the coaches. Not only am I going to be playing college baseball, but a degree from Siena is just as sweet. Siena is also a very good baseball team that will give me a chance to play and win some games especially after they just won the MAAC.

PBR: Who is the top player you have faced this year? Top team?

Childrose: Top player is Justin Yurchak, top team is Shenendehowa.

PBR: How do you want to be remembered?

Childrose: I want to be remembered as a hard worker who puts in the time on the field and tries to do the best every time I go out on the field. I want to be remembered as someone who tried to make his teammates better and respected the game of baseball.

PBR: Who are your biggest fans?

Childrose: My biggest fans are my parents. My parents come to all my games and have supported me all the way through my career so far. They are always at my games cheering for me and without them I wouldn't have been able to play this game I love.

PBR: Do you have any baseball influences?

Childrose: I never really had a baseball influence until one day I turned the tv on and saw a baseball game and I wanted to be on that big stage one day.

PBR: How do you feel PBR New York and our events can help kids been seen?

Childrose: I think it helps a lot. If the player can get the right exposure and college coaches get to see what is put up on this site and twitter from your events its a no brainer.

PBR: Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

Childrose: I like to joke around and have fun and not take every thing too serious.
