No. 9 Cole Whitney

There's no doubt Whitney is a high-end projectable prospect on the bump at the next-level. At 6-foot-5, and under 200-pounds his frame looks like he could use a few stops in the buffet line. When he matures and gets into a program designed to build overall strength and power watch-out. At times he shows a lightning quick fastball sitting 88-92 mph, other times he's mid 80's at best. Once his arm-strength becomes consistent the sky will be the limit for the St. John's verbal commit. A guy to keep a watchful eye on this spring.

Scouting Report On Whitney
Cole Whitney, RHP, Goshen HS, NY (2015)
Whitney stands 6-foot-5 195-pounds and is the definition of projection. On the mound he uses a very high leg lift with some shoulder rotation. He uses a long, down arm action and throws form a mid/high 3/4-power slot. His fastball has recently been up to 92 mph but sits in the upper 80's. He finishes his pitches a little too high and needs to really focus on getting out over his front knee with more extension. He's recently exploded on the scene but still has a lot of fine tuning to do with that big lanky frame. He is a name to watch come this spring.
