Dan Cevette
President, New York

Our Campus Series events ended last week in Rochester, NY at St. John Fisher College after a five week span that started July 3 at Niagara University. Over 250 players attended the Campus Series events with several players showing off next-level talent on the field. Over the course of the next few months we will be highlighting "Top Performer Spotlights" on players who really stood-out at a past event. Let's get started.

Scouting Report

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Over the last couple years Jackson has only improved both physically and skill-wise from the mound. The body is large but there's more strength gains in his future, the arm-action is short on the backswing with full extension out in front, and the hand-speed is quick. After watching him throw in the NYS Games this past June I'm convinced he will be a frontline arm once he settles in with Canisius College (recent commitment) in two years. There's a lot to like with his FB, but the hand-speed on the breaking ball is just as fast producing above average shape at times. The future is bright for the Jamestown, NY righty.

NYS Games - June 25-27, 2018
Big, physical frame with long lets and torso. Wide shoulders. Has a good presence on the bump. Despite size he has a very short and compact arm action. Ball jumps on hitters from behind his ear with some sneak velocity and riding life. FB peaked 86 mph sitting 82-85 with clear signs of more velocity to come. No wasted movement. Simple actions. Good body control. Goes after hitters with good intent and maintains good hand speed on all of his pitches. Still plenty of room for development.
