It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. Scouting Report

Physical: 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Lean, projectable frame. 7.2 runner in the 60; 3.97 home-to-1B.
Offensively: LHH. Athletic, balanced stance, slightly wide base, hands start level with ears, uses a bat waggle and a medium leg kick for timing Very quick hands to and through the point of contact, quick barrel, good extension and solid use of lower half. Shows some pop to pull side/up the middle. 90 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Choppy footwork, fields the ball off-center and in the middle of his body, shuffles to release. Quick arm whip, short arm swing, low 3/4 slot.  INF - 80 MPH. 

 

Standout Skill
Rodriguez showed his ability to handle the bat with some hard velo. A lot of movement in his hands, but is still able to whip the  at through the zone to generate good back spin and ball flight. Lower half is smooth and controlled, very repeatable, and works gap-to-gap approach. His quick hands give him the access to drive a low and inside pitch to the pull side gap. Rodriguez showed good tendencies to hit the ball where it's pitched.  
Player Projection
Shows ability to be a utility guy, meaning, Rodriguez has the athleticism to play the OF, MIF, and 3B. His quick first step and active footwork should be enough to cover the MIF with a strong arm for deep plays. His glove work can play anywhere in the INF and his speed will track balls down in the OF.  

Quick Hit
"Able to use the whole field and hit low line drives. A lot of movement in his hands, but during swing is very smooth and contact is loud with good power. Active feet and keeps the ball away from his body. Quick arm action with good velo across the diamond, exceptional glove work, and ability to play on the run."
