2015 Preseason Players of the Year

The classes in Ohio for Division I are loaded with talent from top to bottom. When thinking of the 2015 Preseason Position Player of the Year, there were plenty of different choices to consider. In the 2015 class there are the likes of Cam Comer (Virginia), TJ Lake (West Virginia), Andrew Weber (Virginia) and Jonathon Deifel (Kent State) among others. In the 2016 class Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) put his name into the hat of potential choices for the 2015 Preseason Position Player of the Year.

With all that being said, the choice was clear and Christopher Machamer (Vanderbilt, pictured right) has been named the 2015 Preseason Position Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound two-way prospect will be high on Ohio's Super 60 list for next season. The Vanderbilt commit is currently ranked first in Ohio???s 2016 class and 25th overall. At SS, he has good range and plenty enough arm strength to play the left side of the infield. A right-handed hitter with gap-to-gap power, Machamer has a top exit velocity of 91 mph. On the mound, the righty???s fastball has been up to 92 mph with a feel of two other pitches. Machamer had to sit out the first 14 games of the season last year after transferring from state power Walsh Jesuit to play with his summer coach, Neall French at Massillon Washington. In 2015, Machamer will likely get off to a quick start and show the state and the nation why he is the number one rated player for PBR Ohio in the 2016 class.

After selecting Machamer for the 2015 Preseason Position Player of the Year, it was time to choose the 2015 Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Even with Machamer out of the running for this, there was still a plethora of talent to choose from and it came down to Chandler Day (Vanderbilt), Ryan Feltner (Ohio State), Rodney Hutchison Jr. (North Carolina), Grant Macciocchi (Missouri), Austin Hovekost (Kent State) and Jackson Tedder (Virginia) from a long list of standouts.

Looking at everything as a whole, we at PBR choose Watkins Memorial's Chandler Day (pictured right) as the 2015 Preseason Pitcher of the Year. The 6-foot-3 projectable Vanderbilt commit keeps getting better every year. Being young for his class, the right-hander should be a solid draft prospect this year. Chandler's fastball has been up to 93 mph with above average secondary stuff. It should be fun to see the top-ranked player in the 2015 class this spring and the attention he will be receiving from Major League teams.
