2015 Preseason Players of the Year

When thinking of a positional player to start a team, Chase Murray (pictured right) of CHCA is one of the first names to come up in Ohio and the multi-talented C/OF is our 2015 Preseason Position Player of the Year.

The smooth-swinging left-handed hitter is highly thought of by many at PBR. In 2014 he had a .453 BA in 95 at-bats. The lefty stroked nine doubles, seven triples, four HRs while scoring 35 runs and driving in 39.

According to Nathan Rode, National Supervisor, "(Murray) is athletic with versatility. He has a smooth stroke from the left side and shows good arm strength from the outfield and behind the plate" and could be a draft prospect this upcoming June as seen here.

JD Heilmann, Ohio Scouting Director, is also a big fan saying: "When you talk about Chase the first thing you talk about is hitting. The Georgia Tech commit really has shown a feel to hit at such a young age. His left-handed stroke is easy and stays in the hitting zone. Not sure if he will be behind the plate this year or in the outfield, but one thing for sure is that he has ability to stroke at the plate."

Among others in consideration: Ross Adolph (Toledo), Sam Lafontaine and Malave Bettinger.

Speaking of names being thought of when it comes to Ohio prospects, Adam Wolf (pictured right) is definitely in that conversation after what he showed this summer. The lefty for Milan Edison is the 2015 Preseason Pitcher of the Year. JD Heilmann said of Wolf: "The 6-foot-5 Louisville commit was one of the biggest names this summer. His progression over the past year has been impressive. The southpaw's fastball has been up to 92 mph and really shined at the East Coast Professional Showcase when he retired every batter he faced against the top players in the country."

The 3rd ranked player in Ohio's 2015 class has really transformed into a potential draft prospect from the first time we saw Wolf at PBR. To read more about his transformation, take a look at this story (Adam No Longer A One-Man Wolfpack).

Nathan Rode said this about Wolf: "The 6-foot-5, 215-pound southpaw really came on the scene after he flashed a couple 90-mph fastballs at the Top Prospect Games in June. Over the summer, his fastball has been up to 92 mph and he mixes in a sharp curveball for strikes at 75-76. Wolf participated in the East Coast Professional Showcase and struck out five in two innings of work. He has received offers and interest from several schools in the power conferences before choosing to verbally commit to Louisville."

Others in consideration: Wade Martin (Marshall), Michael McDonough (Ohio State), Damon Egnor (BGSU), Jake Vance (Ohio State) and Ryan Mikesell (Dayton basketball/baseball)
