Coastal Plain League: Peninsula Pilots

WILSON, N.C. — Over the last two weeks, the focus of my Coastal Plain League coverage has shifted northeast, to the Peninsula Pilots and the Wilson Tobs. Today I’ll highlight the most intriguing prospects I saw from the Pilots. Later this week we’ll break down the Tobs.

• Peninsula’s best prospect may be Virginia Tech’s Nick Biddison, who is hitting .333/.455/.422 in 12 games this summer. But Biddison did not appear in any of the games I saw, and neither did fellow talented Hokie Kevin Madden. I have seen both players in the past, however, and both of them are certainly prospects of interest heading into 2021. Biddison, who is capable of playing all over the diamond (he has played center field, second base and catcher at Virginia Tech), could be a potential top-five rounder for next year.

I did get a look at a third Hokie: rising sophomore righthander Nic Psimas, who threw one scoreless inning this spring and has had a rocky seven-appearance run this summer, posting a 10.29 ERA. Psimas has...
