The Recruiting Notebook: The Latest Commitments from Ohio's Class of 2015

Below we have the latest commitments from the Buckeye State. Underneath the most recent commitments we have a running list of commitments for the 2015 and 2016 class over the last couple months.

Most Recent Commitments


Nick Bennett, LHP, Moeller HS, 2016

6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect with tall, lanky projectable body committed to University of Louisville and Head Coach Dan McDonnell. Excellent pitching prospect with loose arm through upper 3/4 slot. Fastball shows late life, ranging 84-90 mph. Uses slurvy tilt breaking ball with some feel at 66-67 mph and some arm side run on the changeup at 68-70 mph.

Dominic Canzone, OF/RHP, Walsh Jesuit HS, 2016

6-foot-1, 170-pounds with an athletic frame, possible two-way prospect committed to The Ohio State University and head coach Greg Beals. From the outfield he shows above average arm strength from a high ¾ slot with a velocity of 84mph. Left-handed hitter that shows good bat speed with a flat bat path that shows power to pull side. On the mound Dominic throws through a high 3/4 slot with his fastball sitting 84-87 topping out at 88 with good arm side run and some sink. He spins his curveball with 11 to 5 action at 67-69, his slider at 71 and a changeup at 66-67.  

Shane Smith, RHP, Elder HS, Class of 2015

6-foot-1, 175-pound righty with good, athletic build committed to Miami (OH) and Head Coach Danny Hayden. Three-pitch mix and fills up the zone. Repeatable delivery without much effort. Locates on both sides of the plate. Fastball sat 83-85 mph. Breaking ball shows two plane action at 65-68 mph. Good arm action on a 72-73 mph changeup. Shows fade down in the zone.

Tyler Henry, LHP, Middletown Madison HS, 2015

6-foot, 175-pound southpaw and TPG participant committed to University of Dayton and Head Coach Tony Vittorio. Throws through a high 3/4 arm slot. Average arm speed. Regular effort to his delivery. Fastball sat at 80-82 mph. Gradual break to a 66-69 mph breaking ball. Located the pitch well on both sides of the plate. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed at 74 mph 

Loie Greenwood, INF, Gahanna Lincoln HS, 2015

6-foot infielder and Northern Ohio Underclass Invitational participant committed to Jay Lewis and the Wittenberg University Tigers. Projects as a corner infielder. Uses short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 71 mph across the infield. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in an open stance with a slight crouch. Takes short path to the ball. Reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph.

Hunter Ackerman, OF, Mansfield Madison HS, 2015

6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect with athletic build committed to Bill Barr and the Grace College Lancers. Throws from low 3/4 to 3/4 arm slot from the outfield, creating some run to his ball. top velocity of 78 mph. Tendency to open his front side early. At the plate, he starts from a balanced stance. Short stride. Uses all fields. Maintains balance throughout his swing. Hands work quickly through the zone with line drive production. Top exit velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 7.14 60-yard dash.

Louisville Commit


Adam Wolf, LHP, Edison High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and 3rd ranked player in the Ohio’s 2015 class, recently committed to University of Louisville and Head Coach Dan McDonnell. The 6-foot-5 southpaw really came on the scene after he flashed a 90 at The Top Prospect Games. Over the summer his fastball has been up to 92 mph and a sharp curveball he can throw for a strike at 75-76 mph. 

Kent State University Commits


Joe Vranesic, RHP, Moeller, 2015

Top Prospect Game participant and ranked 15th in the Ohio’s 2015 class recently committed to Kent State University and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound righty was as high as 91 mph with his fastball this summer and a sharp breaking ball at 75-76 mph.

Austin Havekost, RHP, Medina High School, 2015

6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect with impressive, physical build. Kent State University commit and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. Throws with long, loose arm action through high 3/4 arm slot with regular effort. Started out 87-88 but as he loosened up, he quickly sat 90-91 mph with good arm side run. Sat 85-87 mph out of the slide step in the stretch. Breaking ball showed gradual 12/6 break at 68-71 mph. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed and shows good sink at 76 mph.

Jonathon Deifel, SS/RHP, Oak Hills High School, 2015

5-foot-11, 170 pound prospect. Committed to Kent State University and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. Continues to impress on the mound. Throws through high 3/4 arm slot with some quickness to his arm. Regular effort to his delivery. Tall and fall type mechanics. Fastball sat in the upper 80s with occasional run. Also uses a sharp, late breaking 11/5 breaking ball at 73-75 mph along with a 79 mph changeup. As a position player, he likely projects as a third base type. Top velocity of 83 mph across the infield. Tendency to pack in his transfer. Some rhythm to his footwork and feel in his actions. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts from an open stance. Line drive production with pull tendencies. Top exit velocity of 75 mph. Ran a 6.94 60.

Bryan Soth, 1B, Moeller High School, 2015

5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic prospect. Committed to Kent State University and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. Right-handed hitting first-baseman who starts from a balanced set up while using a small weight shift to back leg. Good hands back trigger, higher leg lift while showing quick hands and uses both parts of the field. Does a good job staying inside the baseball. 4.34 to first base.

Ohio State University Commit


Matt Carpenter, 2B, Aurora, 2015

The switch hitting infielder recently committed to Ohio State University and Head Coach Greg Beals. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound infielder shows good actions and able to throw from all angles that projects as a second base type at the next level.

Azim Qadri, OF, Walsh Jesuit High School, 2015

6-foot-2, 170 pound Top Prospect Games participant recently committed to The Ohio State University and Head Coach Greg Beals. The left-handed hitting outfielder ran a 6.89 sixty and threw 83 mph from the outfield at The Top Prospect Games.

Bowling Green State University Commits


Chase Antle, RHP, Grove City High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and 34th ranked player in Ohio’s 2015 class, recently committed to Bowling Green State University and Head Coach Danny Schmitz. The righty's fastball was 84-87 mph at the Top Prospect Games and has been as high as 90 this summer.  

Logan Giddings, 1B/RHP, Pickerington North High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and recently ranked 30th in the Ohio 2015 class, recently committed to Bowling Green State University and Head Coach Danny Schmitz. The two-way prospect showed a top exit velocity of 93 mph and a fastball up to 84 mph at the Top Prospect Games. 

Riley Minorik, SS/3B, Walsh Jesuit High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and recently ranked 43rd in the Ohio 2015 class, recently committed to Bowling Green State University and Head Coach Danny Schmitz. He really showed well at the Top Prospect Games running a 6.7 and a top exit velocity of 90 mph. 

Blake Jenkins, OF, Walsh Jesuit High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and recently ranked 37th in the Ohio 2015 class, will join high school teammate Minorik at Bowling Green State University and Head Coach Danny Schmitz. The athletic outfielder ran a 6.7 sixty and had a top exit velocity of 93 mph, while throwing 88 mph from the outfield during the Top Prospect Games.

Brad Croy, MIF/RHP, Ottawa Glandorf High School, 2015

6-foot, 155 pound prospect with small, athletic frame who recently committed to Bowling Green State University and Head Coach Danny Schmitz. Short arm action through high ¾ arm slot. Accuracy to his throws. Reached a top velocity of 81 mph. Uses a quick exchange. Not the quickest athlete, but takes good routes. At the plate, he starts with a slightly open stance. Smooth load with a short stride. Good balance through his swing. Short, slight uphill path to the ball. Registered a top exit velocity of 87 mph. Line drive production in his swing. On the mound, the small righty shows quick arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. He is a strike thrower. Fastball sits 82-85, touching 86 mph with some run to it. Curveball shows some bite at 72-73 mph and changeup has similar movement to his fastball at 72-73 mph.

University of Toledo Commits


Ross Adolph, OF, Van Buren High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and recently ranked 46th in the Ohio 2015 class committed to University of Toledo and Head Coach Corey Mee. The left-handed hitting outfielder showed a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.0 sixty at the Top Prospect Games.

Parker Ruffer, RHP, Stryker High School, 2015

6-foot-5, 190-pound pitcher with tall, physical build. Committed to University of Toledo and Head Coach Corey Mee. Continues to grow and improve each time that we see him. Throws through high 3/4 arm slot with some quickness. Tends to cut it off a bit. Slight inward turn out of the windup. Fastball showed occasional run at 83-85 mph. Breaking ball shows gradual 12/6 action at 66-69 mph.

University of Akron Commits


Adam McDonough, 1B/3B, Lakota East High School, 2015

Top Prospect Games and Unsigned Senior Games participant recently committed to the University of Akron and Head Coach Rick Rembielak. The right-handed power hitter showed a top exit velocity of 88 mph at The Top Prospect Games.

Dalton Stambaugh, LHP, Highland High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 185-pound southpaw that throws from 3/4 arm slot with some deception. Committed to the University of Akron and Head Coach Rick Rembielak. Long arm action with some effort and head jerk. Fastball has some cut at 81-83 mph. Mixes in a 69 mph slurvy type breaking ball and a 71 mph changeup with some fade to it.

John Malott, OF, Milford HS, Class of 2015

6-foot-2, 185-pound outfield prospect with lanky, athletic frame. University of Akron commit. Evaluation from spring of 2014. Continues to shows maturation in his body. Shows potential to play all three outfield positions, but likely destined for a corner spot. Athletic with natural feel for the position. Throws through high ¾ arm slot. Reached top velocity of 86 mph with carry to his throws. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a small leg kick. Shows some quickness in his bat speed and ability to hit to all fields. Takes slight uphill path to the ball. Continues to show increased power as body physically develops. Registered top exit velocity of 86 mph with an impressive 6.89 60.

Wright State University Commit


Zane Collins, LHP, Benjamin Logan, 2015

Top Prospect and Unsigned Senior Games participant. Ranked 23rd in the Ohio’s 2015 class and recently committed to Wright State University and Head Coach Greg Lovelady. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound southpaw pitches at 84-86 mph from a loose, quick high ¾ slot with a four-pitch mix.

JD Orr, OF, Mount Vernon High School, 2015

5-foot-11, 200-pound strong bodied prospect. Committed to Wright State University and Head Coach Greg Lovelady. Still on the raw side, but lots to work with at the next level. Swing is a bit stiff with a tendency to bar in his load. Still generates impressive 94 mph exit velocity as a sign of his overall strength and quickness in his hands. Speed to play centerfield, but still needs to improve reactions and overall mechanics. Top velocity of 80 mph on his throws. Ran an impressive 6.59 60.

Miami (OH) Commits


Nick Ernst, RHP, LaSalle High School, 2015

Top Prospect and Unsigned Senior Games participant. Ranked 24th in the Ohio’s 2015 class, recently committed to Miami (OH) and Head Coach Danny Hayden. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound righty gained a lot of attention after the Unsigned Senior Games when he sat 87-88 mph with a sharp 73-75 mph breaking ball.

Hayden Senger, C, Lakota East High School, 2015

Looks the part with 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. Committed to Miami (OH) University and Head Coach Danny Hayden. Pop times sat between 1.87 to 2.06 with a top velocity of 86 mph from the crouch. At the plate, he starts from a tall, narrow stance. Long stride. Some quickness in his hands. Level path to the ball with solid contact. Still has room to improve offensively. Top exit velocity of 88 mph. Ran a 7.91 60.

Andrew Almquist, RHP, Lakota East High School, 2015

6-foot, 170-pound prospect. Committed to Miami (OH) University and Head Coach Danny Hayden. Repeatable delivery. Fastball sat 83-86 mph with some run to it. Mixed in a 70-71 mph breaking ball with good depth to it. Excellent changeup that he sells with good arm speed.

University of Dayton Commits


Sam Sustersic, OF, Revere High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect with athletic, physical frame. Committed to University of Dayton and Head Coach Tony Vittorio. Ran a 7.00 60. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 77 mph. Long arm action through high 3/4 arm slot. Tends to open his front side. At the plate, he starts in a slightly open stance. Short stride with powerful lower half. Slight uphill path to the ball with obvious quickness in his hands. Top exit velocity of 93 mph.

Connor Echols, IF/OF, Sidney High School, 2015

6-foot, 180-pound versatile prospect. Committed to University of Dayton and Head Coach Tony Vittorio. Good athletic frame. Potential play multiple positions at the next level. From the outfield, he showed long arm action. plays through the ball. Some length to transfer, but carry to his throws with top velocity of 86 mph. Moves well in the infield and demonstrated ability to throw with accuracy from multiple angles. Top velocity of 79 across the diamond. Offensively, he shows some baring action in his load. Uses a leg kick to initiate his lower half. Uphill path to the ball. Top exit velocity of 92 mph. Ran a 7.08 60.

University of Cincinnati Commits


Christian Steele, 1B, Lebanon High School, 2015

6-foot-6, 240 pound Top Prospect Games participant recently committed to University of Cincinnati and Head Coach Ty Neal. The left-handed hitting first baseman showed a top exit velocity of 93 mph at The Top Prospect Games.

Cameron Alldred, LHP, Cincinnati Country Day High School, 2015

6-foot-3, 200 pound prospect. Committed to University of Cincinnati and Head Coach Ty Neal.

AJ Kullman, RHP/1B, Olentangy Liberty High School, 2015

Tall 6-foot-8, 175 pound prospect who recently committed to the University of Cincinnati and Head Coach Ty Neal.

Xavier University Commit


Roger Danison, OF, Bloom Carroll High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 170 pound left-handed hitting outfielder. Committed to Xavier University and Head Coach Scott Googins. Athletic frame. In the outfield, he throws from a high 3/4 slot with long arm action. Good overall actions. Plays well through the ball and gets good pace on his throws. Topped out at 87 mph from the outfield. At the plate, he features a smooth left-handed stroke. Starts with a slightly open stance, and uses a short stride. Can drive the ball to all parts of the field. Projects a very high contact rate, as he knows how and when to shorten his swing. One of the top outfielders in Ohio’s 2015 class with an exit velocity of 91 mph.

Youngstown State commit


Chris Sparks, RHP, Crooksville, 2015

Top Prospect, Unsigned Senior and Fall Prospect Program participant. Ranked 52nd in the Ohio’s class of 2015 recently committed to Youngstown State University and Head Coach Steve Gillispie. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound righty has been up to 87 mph and has a real feel to spin the baseball.

Hunter Snyder, Catcher, Springfield Local High School, 2015

5-foot-10, 175 pound Top Prospect Participant recently committed to Youngstown State University and Head Coach Steve Gillispie. At the Top Prospect Games he was consistently 2.0-2.04 with a top exit velocity of 83 mph.

Oakland University Commits


Ryan Fitzgerald, OF, Mount Vernon High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games and Unsigned Senior Games participant and recently ranked 77th in the Ohio 2015 class, recently committed to Oakland University and Head Coach John Musachio. The switch-hitting outfielder ran a 6.72 sixty and a top exit velocity of 89 mph at the Top Prospect Games.

Nicholas Parr, RHP, Olentangy Liberty High School, 2015

6-foot-3, 190 pound right handed pitching prospect. Committed to Oakland University and Head Coach John Musachio. Evaluation if from a showcase in the winter. Throwing on a slightly downhill plane, Parr uses a high 3/4 slot with short arm action. His 81-82 mph fastball offers some cutting action, as he has a tendency to get on the side of the ball. He showed good feel for his 68-69 breaking ball. The curveball features some sharp 11/5 action with gradual movement. He also used a 71 mph straight changeup.

Northern Kentucky Commit


Jesse Peters, LHP, Goshen High School, 2015

6-foot-3, 180 pound Top Prospect Participant and recently ranked 56th in the Ohio 2015 class, recently committed to Northern Kentucky University and Head Coach Todd Asalon. The southpaw was 82-84 mph on his fastball at the Top Prospect Games and was up to 86 mph this spring.

Fairleigh Dickinson University Commit


Evan McDonald, Catcher, Logan Elm, 2015

6-foot-1, 210 pound Top Prospect Games participant recently committed to Fairleigh Dickinson University and Head Coach Gary Puccio. At the Top Prospect Games he recorded pop times between 1.95-2.01 and a top exit velocity of 89 mph.

Florida Southwestern Commit


Jett Swetland, 3B/RHP, Sparta Highland High School, 2015

The Top Prospect Games participant and recently ranked 45th in the Ohio 2015 class, committed to Florida Southwestern and new Head Baseball Coach Jamie Corr. At the Top Prospect Games his fastball sat 82-85 mph with a curveball at 72-74 mph. Right-handed hitter with a top exit velocity of 91 mph.

UNC Charlotte Commit


Drew Morrison, LHP, Licking Valley High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 200 pound southpaw with solid build. Committed to UNC Charlotte and Head Coach Loren Hibbs. Future Games participant. Cross-body type thrower. Fastball sits 81-86 mph. Breaking ball sits 66-68 mph with gradual 1/7 break.

Butler University Commits


Sam Russo, C, North Canton Hoover High School, 2015

5-foot-11, 180-pound backstop. Committed to Butler University and Head Coach Steve Farley. Some strength to his frame. Starts in good receiving position. Quick hands and transfer. Throws with short arm action. Accurate throw with top velocity of 74 mph. Pop times between 1.90-2.00. Offensively, uses a short stride. Gets off the backside. Loads from above his shoulder. Slight uphill path with some pop in his bat. Top exit velocity of 87 mph. Ran a 7.47.

Brock Balderson, RHP, Marlington High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect with strong, athletic frame. Committed to Butler University and Head Coach Steve Farley. Fastball sat in the low to mid 80's bumping up to 86 mph. Above average effort to his delivery. Breaking ball showed late 11/5 action. Tendency get on the side of it at times on this occasion. Also mixed in a 71 mph changeup. Overall, pounds the zone with an aggressive approach.

University of West Virginia Commit


Marques Inman, 1B, Elyria High School, 2015

6-foot, 187-pound strong, athletic build recently committed to West Virginia University and Head Coach Randy Mazey. Ranked number 64 in the 2015 class. His best tool is his bat with quick hands and shows signs of power.

TJ Lake, OF/IF, Toledo St. John's High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect with versatile skill set. Committed to the University of West Virginia and Head Coach Randy Mazey. Potential to play second base or an outfield spot at the next level. Smooth actions in the field. Arm isn't exceptionally strong, but plays well. Quick transfer and accurate throws from both positions. At the plate, the left-handed hitter consistently squares up the baseball. Understands how to use the whole field, but still needs to work on getting hands through on fastball on the inner half. Top exit velocity of 88 mph. Ran a 7.06 sixty.

Buffalo University Commit


Connor Regan, C, Walsh Jesuit, 2015

6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect with big, solid frame. Committed to Buffalo University and Head Coach Ron Torgalski. Evaluation from summer of 2013. Reached a top velocity of 73 mph from the crouch. Displayed quickness in his exchange. Pop times between 2.00-2.02. Will improve catch and receive abilities with time and additional reps. Offensively, he projects as a middle of the order bat at the next level. Shows power to all fields in his swing. Uses medium size stride and good utilization of strong, lower half. Hands are quick into the zone. Registered top exit velocity of 89 mph off the tee. Ran a 4.82 out of the box.

Marshall University Commit


Reed Norris, 3B, Columbus St. Francis DeSales, 2015

6-foot-4, 206-pound prospect with long, athletic frame. Committed to Marshall University and Head Coach Jeff Waggoner. Evaluation from summer of 2013. Corner infield type that has the ability to stay on the left side with quicker transfer. Uses short arm action through ¾ to high ¾ arm slot. Shows some strength to his throws. Reached a top velocity of 80 mph across the infield. Looks natural receiving the ball. Also worked out at first, but looks more comfortable at third. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a slightly open stance. Uses a short stride. Good balance in his swing. Projects as a middle of the order type bat. Big frame with plenty of room to add weight. Takes short, slight uphill path to the ball.

Sinclair CC Commit


Cole Quillen, LHP/OF, Tippecanoe, 2015

5-foot-10, 175-pound solid build. Ranked 101st in the 2015 class and recently committed to Sinclair Community College and Head Coach Steve Dintaman. Possible two-way prospect. The southpaw’s fastball is from a high ¾ slot that sits 81-84 mph with some arm side run and top exit velocity of 85 mph.

Paul Collins, OF, Goshen High School, 2015

6-foot-1, 188-pound prospect. Committed to Sinclair CC and Head Coach Steve Dintaman. Corner outfield/infield prospect. Best tool is his bat. Uses a leg kick to initiate his lower half, which creates tendency to dive a bit. Uphill path to the ball. Some rhythm to his swing and pop in his bat. Top exit velocity of 93 mph. From the outfield, he reached a top velocity of 83 mph. High 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. Ran a 7.14 60.

Alex Alders, OF, Nordonia, 2015

6-foot-2, 205-pound athletic build recently committed to Central Michigan University and Head Coach Steve Jaksa. The speedy outfielder also had division one football offers.

Gardner Webb Commit


Tyler Johnson, RHP, Olentangy Orange, 2015

Top Prospect Games participant and ranked 11th in the Ohio’s 2015 class recently committed to Gardner Webb and Head Coach Rusty Stroupe. The 6-foot, 160-pound righty with a quick arm has made a significant jump with his fastball up to 91 mph this summer.

Florida Tech Commit


Andy Marzheuser, RHP, Mason, 2015

6-foot-3, 170-pound Top Prospect Game participant who is ranked 111th in the 2015 class recently committed to Florida Tech and Head Coach Greg Berkemeier. At ton of projection with fastball at 83-85 mph and a breaking ball at 70-71 mph with 11-to-5 break.

University of Indianapolis Commit


Kyle Orloff, SS/2B, Elder, 2015

Top Prospect Game participant and ranked 69th in the Ohio’s 2015 class recently committed to the University of Indianapolis and Head Coach Gary Vaught. The 6-foot, 190-pound strong, athletic build infielder with solid actions and registered a top exit velocity of 89 mph at the Top Prospect Games.

Morehead State Commit


Jacob Bolton, 3B/RHP,  Bishop Watterson, 2015

Top Prospect Game participant and ranked 42nd in the Ohio’s 2015 class recently committed to Morehead State University and Head Coach Mike McGuire. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete ran a 6.95 and registered a top exit velocity of 85 mph at the Top Prospect Games.

Cedarville Commit


Brent Solinger, RHP, Jackson, 2015

6-foot-7, 250-pound big body. Ranked number 151 in the 2015 class and recently committed to Cedarville University and Head Coach Mike Manes. Projection guy with a fastball as high as 84 mph this summer and a breaking ball at 68-70 mph.

Bellarmine University Commit


Derek Burns, SS, Fairfield, 2015

Top Prospect Game participant recently committed to Bellarmine University and Head Coach Larry Owens. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound slick fielding infielder with a top exit velocity of 86 mph and ran a 7.13 sixty. Ranked number 138 in the 2015 class.

 

2016 commitments

The 2016 class in the Buckeye State looks strong from top to bottom and some talented programs have had some big commitments from the incoming junior class. Take a look at a few of the commitments over the last month.

Kent State University Commit


Tyler Drabick, RHP/INF, North Canton Hoover, 2016

The possible two-way Underclass Games and Future Games participant recently ranked 13th in the Ohio 2016 class committed to Kent State University and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. At the Underclass games his fastball has been up to 89 mph with a sharp slider up to 78 mph.

6-foot-1, 190-pound physical prospect. Committed to Kent State University and Head Coach Jeff Duncan. Projects best as a pitcher, but plenty of tools to develop for the next level. Throws through high 3/4 arm slot with some effort. Arm shows some quickness. Fastball was a bit more downhill than the last time that we saw him Sat 86-89 mph with some run. Uses two off-speed pitches, including a slurvy 67 mph breaking ball and a 75-78 mph splitfinger fastball thrown with good arm speed. At the plate, he uses a toe tap to initiate his lower half. Takes slight uphill path. Loads his hands from above his shoulder. Pull power in his swing. Top exit velocity of 86 mph. Corner outfield type with top velocity of 85 mph. Some length to his exchange. Ran a 6.81 60.

The Top Prospect Games and Future Games participant, recently ranked 6th in the Ohio 2016 class committed to Ohio State University and Head Coach Greg Beals. The lefty really showcased his talents at the Future Games where he sat 84-87 touching 88 and pitch two clean innings.

The Top Prospect Games and Future Games participant, recently ranked 15th in the Ohio 2016 class will join McDonough at Ohio State University and Head Coach Greg Beals. The righty’s fastball has been consistently 83-86 mph all summer with a sharp curveball at 73-74 mph.

Zane Harris, 1B, Mansfield Madison High School, 2016

Big 6-foot-5, 240-pound strong bodied first-baseman prospect. Committed to Wright State and Head Coach Greg Lovelady very shortly after the Prep Baseball Report Ohio 2016/17 games. Moves around well for his size around the bag, but needs to continue to improve quickness in his feet. Threw at a top velocity of 73 mph. Big lefty bat starts from a balanced athletic position, uses a good smooth hands back trigger. Showed ability to use both sides of the field and hit with good pull power, shows quickness in his hands while reaching a top exit velocity of 84 mph. Ran a 4.78 down the line.

Seth Gray, IF, Springfield Shawnee, 2016

6-foot-3, 192-pound athletic frame with still some projection left. Committed to Wright State University and Head Coach Greg Lovelady. Infielder shows average actions that can improve his footwork transitioning from catch to throw as he has small crow hop. Uses a clean short arm action coming from ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 78 mph on his throws. Left-handed hitter starts from a balanced set up, uses a big leg kick for added power, hands back to shoulder trigger, shows pull power, and showed the ability to go opposite field with some pop during two game at bats. Top exit velocity of 78 mph. Ran a 4.53 down the line. On the mound he starts from the stretch, using average armspeed coming from an over the top arm angle. Did a good job of locating his fastball using both sides of the plate at 79-82 mph, his curveball broke at a 12/6 plane with good depth to it at 67-68 mph.
