Teddy Eyink RHP / 1B / St. Ignatius, OH / 2020Rankings StateRank: 52 / POS: 20
CLEVELAND - Living in a “baseball family since day one” Teddy Eyink did not have far to go for advice when his recruitment started to take off. “My dad grew up playing baseball and my mom played softball,” Eyink said. “Both of my older brothers play baseball.” The oldest, Jackson, is now playing college baseball - something Eyink has designs to do as well. “I’ve talked with Ohio U, I think they saw me a couple times in the summer and at a Top Prospect Games,” the St. Ignatius junior said. “I’ve also had some small talk and emails with others. I haven’t taken any visits yet, but I’ve been invited to some small camps.” Determining where to go is just half the battle for the 52nd-rated 2020 in Ohio. “I’m still deciding on trying to be a two-way,” noted the 6-3 205-pound right-handed pitcher and first baseman. “It’s one of the biggest decisions I have to make. I’ve been talking to my brother, who’s a two-way at Cincinnati, about it.” Jackson Eyink went through a lot of questions in his recruitment. “He had to weigh it all the same way,” Eyink said of the freshman pitcher/outfielder at UC. “He said just keep working hard and trust the process. You don’t have to rush anything. “Junior year he got caught up in all the hype and was thinking about not playing baseball or walking on. But he worked his butt off between his junior and senior year and was throwing 90-plus. He finally made his decision three or four weeks before the deadline to register for college.” The seventh-rated unsigned junior pitcher in the state understands his potential on the mound can not be overlooked when deciding on what position to play in college. |
