Tyler Ross SS / RHP / Olentangy Orange, OH / 2019

LEWIS CENTER - It was a year ago that Tyler Ross tore his ACL.

There was no hockey in the winter and no high school baseball in the spring. College recruitment was non-existent.

But how things have changed since getting cleared to play sports. The Olentangy Orange senior is now a Bowling Green baseball commit.

“They watched a few games in the summer and we talked back and forth,” Ross said of the interaction that began when BG was checking out a teammate of Ross, Adam Fallon who is also a commit of the Mid-American Conference school. “I took a visit in the middle of August and committed in late August.

“Before this summer I had no contact with them, but when we talked there was a spark right away. It seemed like the right place.”

What a different feeling it was from a year prior.

“I tore my ACL in October of 2017 and was out until I started playing my summer season in late May,” the 78th-rated senior in Ohio said. “I rehabbed in school ball and was not cleared to play until then. It was tough, but missing hockey prepared me for it.”

Coaches Phil Callahan and Matt Lattig gave encouragement to the 6-2 185-pound shortstop.
