Nathan Rose SS / 2B / Shaker Heights, OH / 2019Rankings StateRank: 140 / POS: 21
SHAKER HEIGHTS - Getting moved up to varsity on his high school team freshman year was a big learning experience for Nathan Rose. “I was a really small kid and it was eye-opening to see the size out there,” Rose related. “It was then I realized I would have to work harder and that’s what I did.” The work has certainly paid off for the now senior at Shaker Heights, who recently made a college commitment to Bowling Green. “They saw me at Wright State playing with Team Ohio Pro Select,” Rose related in reference to his fall baseball team. “They asked if I could come to a camp. I went on a visit and I felt comfortable on campus.” Eastern Michigan, Dayton and Penn State all showed interest in the 140th-ranked 2019 player in Ohio, who had also been offered by Delaware State. In addition, a number of Division II and III schools were reaching out to Rose after the PBR Northern Ohio Unsigned Senior Games in August. “That was a good opportunity to get my profile out there,” Rose said of the PBR event. “A lot of schools saw my numbers after that.” Deciding on Bowling Green was well thought out by the 21st-rated senior shortstop in the state. “It’s always been a goal to play Division I, but I was open to the D-II and D-III idea,” Rose explained. “I just had to weigh all the options.” But BG proved too good to pass up. “I’d heard the coaching staff had a good reputation and things just clicked on the visit,” Rose said. “I felt comfortable on campus. I met some of the players and they all seemed cool.” The Mid-American Conference school saw Rose fitting in well. |
