Inside the Recruitment: '17 RHP Juan Broom commits to Ohio State

Juan Broom, RHP, Willoughby HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio State?

Broom: Ohio State just felt home to me! Just there wasn't one negative thing about it. Field was gorgeous pitching program is exactly what I'm looking for!

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Broom: Really wasn't considering any I was focused on OSU I was talking to others but I knew from the start when my coach said OSU wants me I said to myself "I want to be a Buckeye"

PBR: Where did Coach Beals first see you?  How did your relationship develop with them?

Broom: Not sure where coach saw me, Coach Hollick was saying they say me at different games. But Beals and the coaching staff are funny and just fit the type of person I am. We went to lunch and there wasn't one moment or conversation we weren't laughing about. Beals is a great guy and is all about baseball.

PBR: You performed extremely well at PBR Future Games recently.  How did that help your recruiting process?

Broom: That helped my recruiting process a lot a couple days after I had to call like 5 other schools. But like I said OSU was still right there I wanted to go there.

PBR: You are only a junior, how important was it to get your commitment out of the way so early?  Are you finished with the recruiting process?

Broom: It feels great it's just motivation from here on out to work harder and just be a role model. I would say it's over I'm a Buckeye.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Broom: Ohio Elite McNerny. And the most memorable part of my summer was pitching at Vanderbilt.
