Inside the Recruitment: '17 RHP Ryan Lane commits to Kent State

PBR: Why did you choose Kent State?

Lane: They are a great fit for me on and off of the field. Their coaching staff is one of the best around and they have proven success.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Lane: Eastern Michigan, George Washington, and Navy.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship develop?

Lane: They heard about me through word of mouth from my high school season. Coach Marconi reached out to me and everything ended up working out.

PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?

Lane: Not at all. Things would move very fast and then seem to stop for awhile.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Lane: It's a great feeling! I've always dreamt of doing this and I am proud to be a Flash!
                                 
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Lane: I play for the Evoshield Canes North 17u team for Billy Wagner. My most memorable moment this summer was playing against Bobby Valentine's team at East Carolina.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Lane: My parents. They gave always supported me in whatever I have chose to do. That along with numerous coaches that I couldn't have done this without.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season?

Lane: I was 9-0 with a .51 ERA. I struck out 91 batters and allowed 12 walks.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Lane: Nathan Thomas from New London.
