Timothy Murray, RHP, Norton HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Walsh?

Murray: Academically they offer Criminology which is the degree I am looking at pursuing. Athletically Coach Mead and Coach Wagler were the most honest and forthright coaches I have spoken with the past 2 years. I feel Coach Wags was the best choice as a pitching coach seeing as he had experience with submarine release pitchers.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Murray: Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green, Youngstown State, Ohio University; Ohio Dominican, Kent State and Millersville

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with him?

Murray: Coach Mead first saw me last year at winter workouts. Kept in contact and then this past summer he saw me throw at Walsh in a tournament game.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Murray:  I am driven to get my velocity up to 84 because I was told I could never get there with an ankle high release and also maintain my current 3 year era sub 1.00 era.

PBR: Was the recruiting process everything that you expected?

Murray: Yes and no. I was ready for the comments," we like you" or " we will be watching you" but since 2016 summer ball my concentration was on being a closer instead of a starter and I fell down on some coaches boards.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Murray: I play summer ball the Brownlees Lookouts and my most memorable experience was the confidence my coaches and teammates had in me to perform and succeed each time I took the mound.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring?

Murray: 37 innings, 20 appearances, 140 batters faced, 10 hits, 1 run, 0.189 era, 38 ks, 7 bbs, 52 ground outs, 23 fly outs

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?
Murray: I would have to say Dillon Dingler.
