Inside the Recruitment: '18 3B Ryan Bergert commits to West Virginia

PBR: Why did you choose West Virginia?
Bergert: When I went on my visit I really clicked with everything there. The campus was amazing with amazing views and great facilities.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Bergert: The other Schools I was considering were Kent state, Michigan State, Youngstown state, and Eastern Michigan.
PBR: Where did the West Virginia coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
Bergert: They first saw me at the Perfect Game National Championship. The next day after they watched me, I got a phone call from Coach Sabins, then is when he told me he wanted me to come on a visit. Later that month I went on the visit and got to meet the rest of the coaching staff.
PBR: West Virginia has built a new stadium. How does it feel to know that you will be one of the first recruiting classes to play on the field?
Bergert: It feels good knowing I'll be coming into a program that now has great brand new facilities.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Bergert: They have told me they want me to come in my freshman year and earn myself a job in the mound.
PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?
Bergert: Honestly I had no expectations for the recruiting process, it all came at me very fast.
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Bergert: That would have to be Kyle Nicolas
