Grant Vera, SS, Tiffin Calvert, Class of 2018

PBR: Why did you choose Kent State?

Vera: I chose Kent State because it just felt like a great fit all around. The coaches are great, facilities are great, and they know how to win.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Vera: Ohio and Ohio State were part of my final decision.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your
relationship develop?

Vera: They first saw me at Future Games because of my injury during the summer. They then started recruiting me and offered me after they had another chance to see me.

PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?

Vera: It was what I expected because I have had teammates that have told me about the process.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Vera: It feels amazing considering that it has been one of my goals ever since I was young, and now I get to fulfill that goal.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Vera: I will be playing for Midland this coming summer but I played with the Premier Athletics-Borgia this past summer, however in my third game I fractured my femur and I was unable to play the rest of the summer.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Vera: Coach Palm has definitely had the greatest impact on my baseball career. He has been very dedicated to helping me grow as a player and as a person ever since I was 8 years old and still continues to work with me to better myself every day.
