Introduction To The Class Of 2025

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

On Friday, the initial 2025 Overall Rankings will be posted. The Hotlist takes a look at some of the top freshmen in the country as an introduction to the class. You’ll surely be hearing these names for the next several years.

Luke Billings, C/RHP/OF, Prosper HS, TX
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Billings takes the top spot in the initial 2025 Texas Rankings, as he has huge two-way potential. Behind the dish, he is very athletic and shows good feel for the game. Playing up at the Future Games, he handled the pitching staff very well, catching arms a couple years older than him. At the plate, Billings shows some serious bat speed through the zone with natural strength. He has good rhythm in the box, which allows him to tap into his power in game. On the mound, Billings shows a loose arm that projects for more velocity as he matures physically. He topped out at 87 in August and showed good feel for a curveball and changeup as well.

Jax Bishop, RHP, Calhoun HS, GA
At the very top of the Georgia rankings is Bishop, a lean 6-foot-1, 158-pound Tennessee recruit with plenty of physical maturing left. On the mound, he has a loose, whippy arm, working from a 3/4 slot with little effort. Bishop can comfortably sit in the mid 80s with his fastball, running it up to 89. He couples this with a slider that shows good depth, and swing-and-miss potential in the low 70s. While the stuff is advanced, it is Bishop’s command at this age that stands out. He can pound the zone, and work both pitches to all parts. The ease of effort, loose arm and athleticism (6.9 runner), all indicate Bishop will continue to trend upwards.
