Ohio Insider: Top 2017 Uncommitted Sleeper Prospects (Outside Top 100)
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position.
Today we are looking at the top uncommitted senior Sleeper Prospects in Ohio. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Wes Reid, SS, Milford
Ranked: 110th in Ohio’s 2017 class
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 170-pound projectable frame. Has an open setup at the plate from the right side. Gets efficient use out of his loading movements, going with a leg kick/bat tip combination. Creates good separation between his upper and lower half during his stride. Takes a slightly downhill path to the ball showing above average bat speed through the zone. Registered an exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 6.78 60-yard dash. Has advanced footwork and glove skills in the infield. All the actions are there.
College Outlook: A good athlete with some tools to work with. Can really run and is a talented defender. Has the glove skills to stay in the middle. Arm strength is below average for the shortstop position but he makes up for it with his ability to get rid of the ball quickly. Skills set fits 2nd base ideally. At the plate he finds the barrel consistently and has more juice than frame would indicate. Fits a table setter role at the next level.
