By Chris Valentine

Although the Top Prospect Games is traditionally designed for rising juniors and seniors, the event's top two players in the summer of 2013 happened to be members of the Class of 2016.
So, it come as no surprise that our initial rankings for Ohio's sophomore class leads off with IF/RHP Chris Machamer and catcher Ty Duvall.

Chris Machamer
, the No. 1 ranked player in Ohio and the PBR coverage area, blasted on to the scene lastmspring as a two-way star at Walsh Jesuit High School, one of Ohio's premier high school programs. His success carried over to the summer and culminated in a strong showing at the Midwest Futures Games in August. With a fastball that reaches into the low 90's, a big time swing, and natural, fluid actions at shortstop, Machamer is quickly becoming the focus of the nation's top college programs and MLB organizatons.

Lebanon catcher Ty Duvall is not far behind at No. 2 in Ohio's Class of 2016 rankings. At the age of 13, he was selected to the 14U Team USA squad after NTIS trials. Now, with a couple of years of maturity under his belt, Duvall is attracting attention from colleges across the nation. The left-handed hitting catcher possess advanced skills behind the plate with excellent receiving skills and a quick, compact transfer.

A pair of projectable southpaws, Nick Bennett and Nathan Alstadt, follow at No. 3 and No. 4. Bennet, who attends Moeller HS out of Cincinnati, had a strong performance at the Midwest Futures Games in August. Meanwhile, Alstadt, who attends Solon HS in Northeast Ohio, is a bit under the radar. He put together a strong summer as he played up on the 16U Diamond Boys Showcase team.

Triad's Trent McIntyre round out the top five. The versatile two-way prospect, who shows potential on the mound and in the field, has long been regarded as one of the top players at his age level. McIntyre possess a strong, athletic frame. His father played baseball at Marshall.
