In a huge game in the South division of the GWOC the PBR Ohio 25th ranked Division I Miamisburg Vikings (13-4, 4-2) upset the 14th ranked Springboro Panthers (15-1, 5-1) 4-1. The night was dominated by Wrightrandolph state recruit Jeremy Randolph (pictured right) who threw a complete game one hitter, striking out nine panthers including Florida International recruit Jack Schaaf three times.

After two innings, the game was scoreless behind Randolph and sophomore pitcher Jeremy Chapman for Springboro. The action got started in the third as Miamisburg senior outfielder Tony Wydra led off the inning with a double to left center field. After Wydra advance to third on a error by springboro shortstop Daniel Olson, Junior Josh Baker stepped up big with a sacirfice fly to center to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Miamisburg added to the lead in the top of the fourth as Lance Brockman lead off the inning with a double to right-center, followed by a bunt hit by Kevan Teasdale. Coach Terry Johnson then used the squeeze with Randolph to take a 2-0 lead. The Vikings added another run in the inning giving them a 3-0 lead headed to the bottom of the fourth.

The sixth inning was the Panthers best shot to get to Randolph after he walked the first two hitters and had to face the heart of the Panthers' order. Senior Cody Pelfrey then grounded into a fielders choice that Lake Erie commit Wes Birchmeier threw away attempting to get the double play, allowing the runner to score from second. Trailing 4-1 with a runner on second and one out, the Panthers sent Schaaf and senior Adam Armstrong to plate. But, Randolph responded by striking out both batters.

The game was called after six due to weather, giving Miamisburg the 4-1 win.

Miamisburg was led by seniors Birchmeier and Brockman, who both went 2-3 with a run scored. Springboro was highlighted by Jeremy Chapman, who threw a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits. Chapman walked one, which was his first walk in 31 and 1/3 innings this season.

Miamisburg will now host Springboro tomorrow night at Toadvine field.
