PBR Spotlight Game: Northmor knocks off Northridge

Errors were costly in Northmor’s defeat of Northridge

By Travis Cox

When you start 3 freshmen in a District Semi-Final game inexperience will most likely come into play.  This was definitely the case for Northridge.

After jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning led by Hank McCormick's two-run single scoring Greg Wilson and Stephen Peters and a Storm Strout RBI single.  The troubles would begin for the Vikings.

Over the next 6 innings the young Northridge Vikings committed 7 errors leading to 6 unearned runs.  Obviously each error was beneficial to the Northmor offense.

On the flip side, Northmor hurler, Zach Wiseman pitched with a near flawless senior laden defense.  Wiseman finished the game with a six-hitter and eight strikeouts.

Strout and reliever Brad Willson, were the tough luck pitchers for Northmor.

Brandon Taylor had four hits and Charlie Burggraf added two more to help pace the offense for Northmor.

Northmor (17-10) will now play second-seeded Fredericktown for the district title at 7 p.m. Thursday at Beavers Field in Lancaster.

Northridge completed their season with (19-10) record.
