PBR: Why did you choose Ball State?

Kennedy: I really felt a connection with the coaches. Also, the university has a great reputation and has a lot of majors to choose from.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Kennedy:  Oakland, Furman, Wright State

PBR:  Coach Maloney was just recently brought back to Ball State as the head coach.  How does it feel to know that Coach Maloney has had success at numerous college programs?

Kennedy:  I have no doubt that Coach Maloney will lead the program back to the top of the MAC and beyond, just as he did when he coached there before. It will be exciting to be a part of that.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Kennedy:  In the off season I plan to work on getting stronger. Our goal for the high school team is to win a GWOC championship and make a deep run in the year end tournament.

PBR: Where did Coach Maloney first see you? How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Kennedy:  Coach Maloney first saw me at the CABA World Series in Euclid. Coach French had contacted me the week before that after seeing me at the Best of the Midwest in Cincinnati. I talked with them both by phone until I was able to visit the campus.  From there, the decision was easy.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Kennedy:  It feels great. It had always been my goal to play Division I baseball.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Kennedy:  I play for the Ohio Heat and I would say the most memorable experience this summer was winning the CABA World Series in Euclid.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? 

Kennedy:  I didn't really know what to expect but the whole experience this summer was a lot of fun.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Springboro?

Kennedy:  I batted .370 and was third in the league in home runs and fifth in runs scored.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio ?

Kennedy:  We played the Midland Redskins twice and faced three of their pitchers.  They were definitely the toughest we saw.
