Q and A with 2013 UNOH Commit: Austin Lenhardt (Batavia HS)

Austin Lenhardt, INF, Batavia HS, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose UNOH?

Lenhardt: I chose them because they're like a family up there. They gave me a great package to go there also. I just couldn't say no to it.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Lenhardt: King College

PBR:  Where did the UNOH coaches first see you compete and how did you relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Lenhardt: They first saw me play at PBR’s Top Prospect Showcase at Prasco Park.

PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?

Lenhardt:  They expect me to get more playing time then a freshman would normally get. They want me playing shortstop which I didn't expect but I'm very happy with it. I'm coming in behind a kid that will be drafted after my first year there.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help the Racers?

Lenhardt: My biggest strength is probably hitting for average. All my skills are so even. I recently ran a 6.5 60 time so speed is one of them.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Lenhardt: My parents for sure. They support me big time and I get a lot of help from my brothers and coaches.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Lenhardt: Midwest Prospects. The most exciting experience I had this year was going to South Carolina to play in the CABA World Series.

PBR: What were your stats last season for Batavia?

Lenhardt: Avg: 524, RBI: 24, Doubles:14 ,Triples:  7, HR: 1, SB: 28

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Ohio?

Lenhardt: One guy I could for sure remember would have to be Zach Cook.
