Q and A with 2014 Miami Commit: Gus Graham (Gallia Academy)

PBR: Why did you choose Miami?

Graham: Miami fit my perfect description of what I wanted in a college, good education and a great baseball experience. Plus I really liked the coaching staff!

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Graham: Ohio, Wright State, Penn State, EKU, and Morehead State

PBR:  Coach Hayden was just recently hired as the new coach at Miami.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Graham: It’s really exciting! You can really tell he is excited on the things to come for Miami baseball and I can’t wait to be apart of it!

PBR:  Coach Hayden has such close ties and understands the tradition of Miami baseball.  How do you think that will help his transition as the new head coach?

Graham: He can jump right into things and not need to settle in. He will know how it is to be apart of the Miami baseball. LOVE AND HONOR!!!

PBR:  Where did the Coach Hayden first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Graham: They were able to watch me pitch at the PBR unsigned senior games. Our relationship developed at the visit, and the coaches calling just to get to know me!

PBR: You recently had a great showing at PBR's Unsigned Senior Showcase.  How much did that impact your recruiting process?

Graham: Overall, I spiked a lot of interest after the event, including Miami!

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Graham: My father played the biggest part in my career! He always pushed me to be my best ever since i was little.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?

Graham: I played for The Ohio Elite this summer. My most exciting experience would of been when we traveled down to Georgia!

PBR: What were your stats last season for Gallia Academy?

Graham: ERA 1.27 Record 9-0 BA 390

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter you have faced in Ohio?

Graham: There is so many great hitters I've faced this summer, its hard to single out one.
