Q and A with 2014 Ohio Dominican Commit: Korey Wright (Hamilton HS)

Wright: I chose Ohio Dominican because of the campus, it is close to home, they are a great school academically, and have a great baseball program and great coaching staff. It just felt like the right fit for me and I'm excited to be a panther.

PBR: What other schools were you considering? 

Wright: I was also considering Lake Erie, Walsh, and Tiffin

PBR: Where did Ohio Dominican first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Page? 

Wright: Ohio Dominican first saw me this summer in the Worthington Wood Bat Tournament. After that I was in contact with them and went down for a visit. The campus was great and I knew as soon as I stepped foot on campus it was the right place for me. 

PBR: Coach Page has made Ohio Dominican a baseball powerhouse. What will it be like to play under the legendary coach? 

Wright: It is an honor to be able to play for such a legendary coach and such a great baseball program. Coach Page has really done a fantastic job with the program at Ohio Dominican and I couldn't be more excited to play for him. 

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus? 

Wright: They expect me to come in and work as hard as I possibly can and I am going to do that, no doubt about it. There are many great opportunities at Ohio Dominican. 

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player? 

Wright: I play for Ohio Elite. Travel baseball has helped my development as a pitcher tremendously. You are playing against the best players around and as a pitcher it helps out a lot because you are facing many really good hitters which makes you a better pitcher and player. 

PBR: What was the most memorable experience from this summer? 

Wright: My most memorable experience from this summer was winning a championship in our first tournament of the year. It set us up good for the rest of the year and we are playing great baseball.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 

Wright: I have to say my parents and my brother. Every tournament, no matter where it was at, they were always there supporting me. Even driving me all around the state and out of state shows that they care. Ever since I was little I always had a baseball in my hand or throwing with my dad. My brother has taught me a lot about the game. Having a brother who is a great pitcher really worked out perfectly. If I did something wrong in a game he would tell me after and we would work on it to get it fixed. Without them I wouldn't of gotten this great opportunity to play college baseball and I thank them all.  

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Hamilton Township? 

Wright: I went 6-3 ERA: 1.98

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio? 

Wright: I have to say my own teammate at Hamilton Township, Mitchell Johnson. I would throw live against him in our fall world series and could never stop him from getting a base hit or just getting on base with his speed. Heck of a player, I'm glad he was on my team.
