Q and A with 2014 Ohio Dominican CommitL Matthew Kittelberger (Massilon Perry HS)

Matthew Kittelberger, RHP, Massillon Perry HS, Class of 2014

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Dominican?

Kittelberger: I chose Ohio Dominican because I felt like it was the perfect fit. Being in a big city like Columbus will be awesome. They also have a great business school with a 4 +1 program so I can get my MBA in just 5 years.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Kittelberger:Malone, Walsh, and Marietta

PBR: Where did Ohio Dominican first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Page?

Kittelberger: The first two times ODU saw me were at PBR events. I met Coach Page on my visit to Ohio Dominican, and I loved all that he had to say about the team, hardwork, and what it takes to be that top notch program he has had year in and year out. I've also been communicating with their assistant coach, Coach Antonides. We call back and forth and text back and forth quite a bit.

PBR: Coach Page has made Ohio Dominican a baseball powerhouse. What will it be like to play under the legendary coach?

Kittelberger: It will be an honor to play for Coach Page. He's built such a great program down there and I'm extremely excited to be a part of it. I love the baseball tradition at ODU.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Kittelberger: The coaches expect me to come in and compete for innings right away.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Ohio Dominican?

Kittelberger: I believe my biggest strength is being the ultimate team player. I always have a positive attitude and am willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win.

PBR: What summer team do you play on and how has travel baseball helped your development as a player?

Kittelberger: I play for the Stark County Terriers in the summer. Travel baseball has had a big impact on my development as a player because of the caliber of competition we get to play against. It's always a blast to play against the best.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Kittelberger:  My personal pitching coach, Justin Gill, has had the biggest impact on me as a player. He completely turned me around as a pitcher, and I look up to him a lot. I can't thank him enough.

PBR: What were your stats for this spring season at Massillon Perry?

Kittelberger:41.2 IP, 4 W, 2 L, 2.68 ERA, 22 K, 14 BB, 2nd Team All-Federal League

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Kittelberger: Jacob Bosiokovic from Delaware Hayes who is now at Ohio State, no doubt.
