Q and A with 2014 Wright State Commit: Jason Foster (Bishop Ready HS)

Jason Foster, RHP, Bishop Ready HS, Class of 2014

PBR: Why did you choose Wright State?

Foster: I chose Wright State because the coaching staff, especially with Coach Lovelady and Coach Parker, really seem to know what they're doing in the developmental phase of the game. Wright State also has amazing facilities that will be extremely helpful in helping me reach my ultimate goals.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Foster: I was very interested in Baldwin Wallace, Wayne State, Otterbein, and Alderson Broaddus.

PBR: Coach Lovelady was name the new Head Coach at Wright State this summer.  How does it feel to be a part of his first recruiting class?

Foster: It feels great. Talking to Coach Lovelady about the team and how he's going to run things gives me a lot of trust and confidence in him and his staff.

PBR:  You have recently jumped up on the radar screen in the recruiting process.  What can attribute to your recent success?

Foster: I really learned what hard work and drive was during my junior year playing football. A couple of coaches showed me what it takes and inspired me to work harder than anyone else in order to be the best and I transferred that knowledge over to baseball.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Foster: My individual goals are to be a more well rounded pitcher, develop a sharper breaking ball, and add at least 2 mph to my velocity. Team goals are centered around manufacturing wins and making a run in the playoffs which is very realistic this year with a whole new coaching staff led by Nate Hillery.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Foster: Being part of a division 1 program feels amazing. I know my hard work is producing results and the division 1 level offers the best competition and the best chance to reach higher goals.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Foster: I play for the Grove City Titans and my most memorable experience would have to be winning a couple tournaments and hotels with the team.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Foster: I couldn't focus on just one person, but some influential people to me would be some past coaches teaching me about values and work ethic and teammates pushing me and challenging me to work harder than anybody else. There are only a few things I can control and hard work and attitude are two things that can determine a player.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Bishop Ready?

Foster: I hit a little below .400 and held an ERA around 2.0, not exactly positive though.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Foster: I can't name a specific player but the Ohio Warhawks have definitely been my toughest outing ever. I gave up my first ever homerun against them.
