Garrett Carmichael, INF, Class of 2014 Wheelersburg HS

PBR: Why did you choose Sinclair?

Carmichael: There are several different reasons why I chose the college I did. First of all, they know how to compete and win games while at the same time having fun with it. Second of all, they have great facilities and a very impressive field. Lastly, with the scholarship I was given, it was too hard to pass up. Overall, it's a great place to start and they understand that I want to play at the highest level possible and they plan on helping get me there. Also, when you're ranked #4 in the nation as Sinclair is currently, that helps too.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Carmichael: Ohio University, Wright State University, Morehead University

PBR: Sinclair is known for sending many of their players to 4 year colleges.  How much of a role did that play in your decision to go to Sinclair?

Carmichael: Like I mentioned before, it played a big role in the process. Sinclair is known for having a lot of colleges coming and watching them compete.

PBR: Where did the Coach Dintaman first see you?

Carmichael: Actually, Coach Parr was the first to see me at the Wright State PBR Unsigned Senior Showcase. Then later on I went to Sinclair on a visit and did a little workout for coach Dintaman.

PBR:  Last spring Wheelersburg won back to back Division III State titles.  How much pressure do you feel to try to three-peat the Championship season?

Carmichael: I honestly don't feel any pressure, and try to never let the game pressure me. I plan to take it one game at a time and if we make it there, then I'll know how to handle it because I've been there before.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment.

Carmichael: I've played for several teams throughout my career such as: The Huntington Hounds, Portsmouth Post 23, Ohio Redstorm, and plan on playing with the Post 142 Shockers this year. I've made too many memories over the years, it's too hard to pick the most memorable.

PBR:  How much of a role did distance play in your decision?

Carmichael: Distance wasn't a huge deal to me, but I did have a role. My family loves to come watch me play so I wanted to go somewhere that they could come up and watch me play. I also have a little brother that will be coming up through high school next year and I'd like to make it home to a few of his games.

PBR:  What team do you play for in the summer?

Carmichael: Post 142 Shockers

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Carmichael: being the first athlete in my family to play at the college level, I did not know what to expect.  Honestly, I figured it would be a lot easier, but the process is very stressful and very time consuming.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Carmichael: Zach Farmer, hope to face Camron Varga.
