Scouting Notes: Northmont and Vandalia Butler

Northmont Scouting Notes

  • Junior outfielder Tom Stoffel (L-L  5'10, 175) continues to be an excellent two-way prospect. Swings bat well with occasional pull power. Shows advanced hitting approach. Foot speed isn't great (7.3 60) but he runs bases well. Has solid arm strength from right field. Did not pitch but has been clocked at 85 mph.
  • Junior Troy Mangen (L-L, 6'5, 220) is another potential two-way prospect two-shot. At the plate, he shows a good hitting approach and gets the bat head into zone. Uses field now but should develop more power with coaching. Played first base and later pitched. Showed over the top release with fastball velocity of 81-83 mph with some feel for curve.

Vandalia Butler Scouting Notes

  • Junior outfielder Eric Hansman (R-R, 6'1, 170) is an athletic, physical, projectable player with solid footspeed and arm strength. Squared stance as a hitter. squares barrel of bat well on ball with line drive pop. Could project homerun power with further maturity. Aggressive attacking the fastball.
  • Junior shortstop John Myers (R-R, 5'10, 145) is a solid D-2 infielder who could blossom more with added physical strength. Good middle infield skills with good hands and feet with solid arm strength. Contact type hitter to all fields. Aggressive with at-bats and will take of what the defense gives him.
