Super 60 Recap: LHP Eric Lauer (Midview HS)

It was Eric Lauer’s second appearance at the Super 60, and he knew what to expect.

“There are high quality players performing in front of 70 plus MLB scouts,” he said.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound southpaw from Midview High School figures to be well scouted this spring by Major League scouts, and he used the Super 60 as a sneak preview heading into the high school season.

Using the same easy delivery from a ¾ arm slot, the Kent State recruit spotted an 87 to 90 mph fastball.

He followed up his fastball with excellent command of a 74-77 mph breaking ball and an 80-84 mph changeup.

Reflecting on the day, Lauer noted, “I thought my performance was good; although I did miss on a couple change ups. I did gain a few mph on my fastball compared to this time last year and kept the ball down and hit most of my spots.”

Now, a veteran for this event, Lauer offers this piece of advice for players that receive an invitation, “If you get invited to the Super 60, GO!”
